I recently completed about 85% of kaplan q bank during the school year with classes and went through about 50% of Uworld thus far. SOme of the kaplan q bank questions I had done multiple times 2X-3X for most of pathology and pathophsyiology/physiology, biochem, pharmacology. What I can say is that whoever wrote on SDN thread "My thoughts on the kaplan q bank" previously that kaplan tests too much minutae, was inferior to uworld, not representative of step I, UWorld questions are ten times harder is a not paying attention. I can say that there were some kaplan questions that were almost verbatim written similar to Uworld questions with the same answer choices. There were overlapping concepts tested in both banks. The questions used similar pictures especially pathology and pathophysiology but the way it was presented was slightly different. IE: in kaplan theres questions that reference having knowledge of Reid INdex in bronchitis while in uworld they show you a picture and expect you to know the mathematical relationship involved in the Reid Index equation. Additionally, the buzz words, and classic presentations used in kaplan stems are very similar to UWORLD...shipyard workers for asbestos, jaw pain in Giant cell. From doing kaplan I felt very prepared for UWORLD and noticed my UWorld percentages almost 20 percent higher than my kaplan scores. personally think the more times you see a concept or disease the better. It definitely helped me on timing and speed read through questions.
