To those that submitted AMCAS after 6/24

Yeah, I am on hold right now. Angeliqua I would for sure find out what is going on with your application. There have been quite a few of SDN'ers verified that submitted after you. You know I really hate this, supposedly they were going in order of time submitted and it seems that it may somewhat random. This is not fair at all for those that submitted earlier....I mean yeah, until July 15th no worries, but who is to say that we will be verified by then.
 
Do not bother calling after 10:30 am. I called once at 12:20 and was on hold until 6:30, when I finally hung up. The next day I called at 9:00 am, and was on hold for only 5 minutes. A few days later I called at 10:30 and was on hold for 40 minutes, but got through. I say 10:30 is the latest to call. Save yourself the hassle and call at 9 tomorrow.

I'm interested to see what they have to say as well. Funny, my application was very complicated, actually. I am surprised it is done.

Well the only thing that worries me about mine is AARTS (military trancript with school I went to like freaking basic training which give NO credit, yet AMCAS still considers it a school), AMCAS instructions state that we put in EVERY military school attended regardless if we receive credit or not as a school attended and then ask for an exception to transcript, and put down that the grades or whatever (yeah, like we get grades in basic training...) will show up in AARTS. It is really a hassle and depending on who I have talked to at AMCAS, I have received *different* answers on how to fill out my AMCAS....really sucks. Soooo, if there are any problems with mine it will be this.
 
okay, so this is a dumb question but do they send you an email or something telling you that your application went through? i tried to submit twice on july 4 and both times it took my credit card #, then said "please wait while we verify the charges," and then the screen just froze and stayed like that. now i am not sure if it was transmitted or not. i never saw a confirmation screen or recevied any emails about it. should i have gotten something like that if it went through? I tried calling but couldn't wait on hold. if someone could help me out before i try to submit again from work at my lunch hour i'd really appreciate it 🙂
 
If your certification has worked, next time you go into your application, it will say that the application is on hold or is active. So, it will be clear whether you have certified it or not.

Yup, it will say on the first screen you see on AMCAS that you are on hold or active. Okay guys, I finally got through after being on hold for over an hour. Today the lady from AMCAS said, OMG I am going to freak out, that they do NOT go by when submitted. So you could submit tomorrow and be verified and someone who submitted two weeks ago not be verified. I am really pissed off right now, because then what is the purpose of applying early? of course if I call tomorrow which I will, I am sure that there will be another answer. I have no clue how they go about verifying anyone? is it by last name? or what.
 
hey guys i posted in the wrong thread. just to let u know that it me 3 working days to have it changed to processed.


umm, the day it changes to verification is the day they will change it, well atleast thats what happened with me. umm and i got it processed today just incase u wanted a time frame.
 
dont count on amcas to email you about your changed status. just be sure to check back periodically cause i didnt recieve any email status changes even though ive read that a few people have
 
Okay so folks we have at least two or three folks on SDN that submitted earlier than other folks yet were certified at a later time and then some folks who just submitted and were certified ASAP. Soooo, AMCAS is going about this hodge podge...WTF?
 
OK, finally processed yesterday afternoon. I hope the paranoia this induced is not indicative of the rest of the year for me....I need to stop reading SDN, I think.

Nothing yet but I did talk again to someone at AMCAS and again they reiterated that there is no order to when they verify, it depends on how complicated your transcripts are, and "other factors". Also, they said that they have 4-6 weeks to process it, so anything below that is just that you got lucky. In other words we really cannot start complaining until six weeks have passed....
 
did any of you guys have your application put on hold after you submitted even though you had all your transcripts in??...i submitted on monday and i have all my transcripts in but it still says that my app is on hold b/c of "supporting docs"......
 
Who knows but again I called again today 🙄 and they told me the same story again. The lady was somewhat more helpful today and gave me more details. You submit your application, and *if* you have all documents that should go with your application are in, you go active, this active will be go on until you start getting verified, after you have been verified then you are processed (finally freaking done). But, many times the online AMCAS will not be 100% correct, meaning that on mine on the online main page, it says that I only have two transcripts, but I know for a fact and AMCAS told me that all three of mine are in. Sooo, call AMCAS if you already have not, and ask them if they have all your transcripts, but do not assume that the online page is correct....
 
I may have missed it in the help section, but do any of you know what the AMCAS policy is on adding medical schools? Do you have to go through the verification process all over if you add medical schools?

No, once certified you are cool. Just add the schools and the you do have to re-submit...but they will not verify you again thank God!
 
i thought i could relax last thursday when i finally got the email saying that my missing transcript had been received (it was received on june 23rd, finally got notification july 3rd), but no luck, as according to my welcome page i was still on hold this morning. called AMCAS and was told that they are having problems updating the website and that i have been active since june 23rd.
this doesn't agree with what others have posted and what other operators at AMCAS have told me, so i don't know what to make of it.
 
What have you been told? it totally jives with what they told me, that they do NOT go in order of when submitted. You have been active before I was and you have still not been certified, of course neither have I, but others that submitted or became active after us, have already been certified. It is a big conspiracy he he.
 
For those of you on this thread, I just started a poll to get an idea of AMCAS process times. If you've been processed, please vote.
 
I just got processed today. I didn't submit until July 1st and it has only taken 8 days to get processed! It seems that some of you who submitted early had a problem getting processed in a timely manner, but I didn't have any problems at all. AMCAS didn't have to change anything from my transcript either. I thought that submitting in July might put me at a disadvantage, but I should be ready to be transmitted with everyone who g submitted in the first part of June. Good luck everyone!

Processed: 7/3

They apparently had not received one of my trancripts (i had 4 sent to them) by 6/14 but they received it about a week later. Also, I had listed "Epidemiology" as BCPM to raise my gpa and it was approved!

How does transmission work after July 15? Is it every day after that? Every week? Every 2 weeks? I just went active today, so I'm probably not going to make the 15th deadline, so it'd be nice to know about this.
 
Transmission won't go to all schools on the 14th, only schools which are ready to receive. Some schools won't even be downloading until late July.
 
This process sucks. Feel like it's prom night and the limo's an hour late.


I'm waiting for them to acknowledge my transcript's existence, then verify.

i'm in the exact same boat as you; submitted 6/15, active 6/26..let's hope we get processed asap!!!!
 
OMG, at least we are in it together. Loomis is your application complicated? that is what one of the people at amcas mentioned...I asked how this whole verification process works and they said, weeeell it depends on the complexity of the application, transcripts, but NOT when received. They kept telling me that they have SIX WEEKS to process my application 🙄 , so yours should be processed before mine...
 
my app is somewhat funky; i have 3 transcripts; undergrad, grad and postbac. weird thing is that from 2000-2002, I took post back classes simultaneously with grad school (in the evening time). so i don't know if that will complicate things. anyway, let's hope we get cleared with this stuff!!!
 
Well, you would figure (but of course we all know that amcas is atypical) that they would actually start with the more complicated applications....
 
I actually submitted my app 6/16, but my transcripts weren't received until 6/25, and it was processed 7/7, so about 2 weeks for me.
 
I do not believe anyone anymore!!! AMCAS is saying that there is NO WAY that someone submitted and went active in July and is already processed! aggghhh! is everyone here lying? or is AMCAS lying?

I submitted 6/30, transcripts were received by 7/2 and today I am processed. It took 10 business days. I'm pretty happy, b/c I thought I was like a month behind, but looks like I'm right on time. They start transmitting next week, right?
 
Yeah, I am so tired of this whole ****ing process, it makes no sense. They have my transcripts since early June and still nothing....
 
Did we consider that maybe it is alphabetical? My last name starts with an F. ???
 
I sent my transcripts to AMCAS back in May, so they were already waiting when my application was submitted. I submitted late night on July 1st, went active on July 2nd, and was processed 8 days later. My last name starts with E.

Transcripts were sent by my registrar on 6/26. They still haven't been acknowledged. Crystal @ AMCAS says it might be as late as the week of July 20th for me to go ACTIVE, let alone get processed!

Hmmm, so maybe it DOES go by last name, please GOD let that be the answer and not that some freakshow at AMCAS is sitting on my application....
 
I dont think its by last name, mines starts with an S and i was processed within a week after submitting -- im going with ur first conclusion, -- AMCAS is just whacked, no surprise there
 
OMG OMG OMG!!! I finally got processed albeit a freaking ton of X's, again I am on the phone to see what they changed and why. Of course my GPA is the same so that is good news 🙂 but still. I must know...he he. Guys I guess they are not that screwed up, I am now eating my words. Although they are going about this hodge podge.

Thanks Bjolly! I know that I worried way too much but I want everything to go well and smoothly and for a second it seemed that AMCAS was just not going to cooperate, how dare they! He he. To all of you waiting if you get a bad juju about this keep calling them...
 
HALLELUJAH!

AMCAS just acknowledged receipt of my transcript. (Was told a couple hours ago it might be another week.) It's only one transcript to verify, and it's very straightforward (and I filled out the app letter-for-letter). Hopefully I won't be too far down the list!

Just goes to show how completely random the AMCAS freaks are.

Now, there's nothing to do but finish up these no-screen secondaries.

P.S. Last name begins with "M". There's no way that's how they do it, though. I imagine there's a heap, or multiple heaps, in loose chrono. order. Each min.wager takes a heap. If they're having a good day, they're pretty quick about it. If they're in a bad mood, they go nice...and...slow...

Loomis I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Remember that even though AMCAS will transmit on the 14th many schools will probably not download until later. As long as you get certified next week you should be fine, if not do not hesitate to CALL them and nicely but still kind of "hey I did pay for this" voice ask why you have not been processed. You know it is not cheap and they sure charged my credit card ASAP...
