So now that I have all the optimistic people... HI😀
I know that many of us applied and interviewed at numerous schools (GREAT JOB) you should be feeling good and proud of yourselves, now let's ASSUME that you got acceptance from ALL the schools you applied for..... Which school will you end up going AND why? Try to put yourselves in the decision making situation (actually this should help a lot when it comes to the real moment) and tell us:
1- The schools you interviewed at (with the assumption of acceptance 😀)
2- Which school you will choose & why?

I encourage you all to respond with your ideas as this will help us A LOT in our decisions and I'm sure all of us will benefit from the different points of view....

I don't have much free time now to write my thoughts but I should post them by tomorrow maximum, but i did not wanna wait to post this thread 😎😎😎😎

I have been interviewed at Pacific, UPENN & UCLA..... I have a very tough decision to make😱:scared:

I know for a fact that you can't go wrong with any of the 3 schools..... which makes it even more confusing 😀

So here are my thoughts about each school:
1- Pacific:

  • I got the sense that it is the strongest among the other from the clinical aspect
  • you start clinics after 6 months (vs 1 year in others-not 100%sure)
  • They have no residents (except OS & Ortho) which will increase your chance to work on much more complex cases and not have hard time finding patients...
  • They have a new building and it seems very promising with the latest tech and gadgets, BUT still I think it is some how risky and I expect that we will face some hardships at least in the beginning (like administrative and patients related issues) I NEED SOME INPUT CONCERNING THIS POINT
  • San Francisco.....enough said 😀😍
  • Amazing Alumni network
  • Not the best choice if you wanna specialize
  • Expensive for sure...
2- UPENN:

  • I really like everything about UPENN, the buildings, clinics, facilities and students seemed to be very satisfied with the program
  • IVY LEAGUE!😱😍
  • Philly is not a bad city
  • They have advanced clinical program with amazing exposure, BUT it is limited to the top students:idea:
  • Very expensive when considering PREP course fees
3- UCLA:

  • It felt the same like UPENN (still my personal preference will be UPENN)
  • Strongest university on the west coast
  • phenomenal campus and student life
  • the cheapest among the 3
That's all I can think of now, and honestly can't make up my mind😕:scared:

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY INPUT FROM YOU GUYS.... THIS CAN HELP US ALL

GOOD LUCK

Over 300 members read this thread and NO ONE had any input??? seriously guys?? 🙂) I know you can do better than this!

If I was in your place I would have definitely gone for Upenn..without a doubt.

I have only been interviewed at UMN so far- However, that is my first choice of school.🙂
The reasons being

  • It has one of the best clinical programs in the country with a huge patient pool. The students apparently get a lot of patients before they graduate😎

They have a really really cool sim lab and working on it would no doubt improve your precision and manual dexterity

An awesome 6-8 weeks community outreach curriculum

Located in Minneapolis one of the best and the cleanest cities to live in

Public Ivy /Big Ten school 😍

    Huge funding for research

Director of PASS program being guided by Dr Berthold, ex PASS program director of UPenn, who has been teaching the international students since 86' ( Imagine he is been teaching PASS students since I was born:bow::bow

So that's my take on the school!!
Just hoping to get in :xf:

if you really want to become a good dentist in usa with tremondous skills in all aspects , there are only two dental schools in this country which offer iddp program BOSTON OR UPENN, my first choice is always boston ,its not because i admittted there( got admissions in 3 out of 6 applied, one got rejected and two still waiting to hear) but because of the great clinical facilities, professors and cutting edge technologies with plenty of opportunities for research. Also boston is a very nice place to settle in so if u have a choice dont hesitate to go to boston or upenn 😍

Boston is not one of the best clinical programs. They barely have any patients and their main focus is research.

no i am sorry to say that you got wrong information , their clinical programs are one of the best in the UNITED STATES

  • I got invited by UMN but i rejected the IV because honestly i thought that UPENN will be a better choice for me especially that i'm living on the east coast, yet i heard great stuff about UMN and their program there.... GOOD LUCK :luck:
