So I just finished my first freshman semester at a nearby community college. I graduated highschool as a 16 year old this past spring, so going to a CC seemed like a good inbetween stage before attending a four year college. Originally, my parents and I had decided I would do a full freshman year at a CC, then transfer as a sophomore. However, now that I have done more research on dental schools and prereqs and what they'll accept, I have learned that many of the schools that I will be applying to won't accept my science courses, except for BU and a few others. Now I'm thinking of not transferring, but just going in as a freshman this fall with some college credits.

I am currently a business management major, and for courses I had: Accounting I, College Comp, Intro to Business, Intro to Computers, and a freshman seminar-type 1 credit course.

For this upcoming semester I am going to have: Accounting II, Principles of Management, Statistics, Music Appreciation, and Bio I w/ lab.

I am actually considering dropping the bio course, since I know I'll have to retake it when I go to the four-year college. I was thinking it would be a good prep course for the real thing, but I don't know if it's worth it to take it as it has 3 classes a week.

Anyways, my real question is should I transfer as a sophomore next fall, or not. The pros to transferring would be having to pay the four-year college's $40,000 tuition for only 3 years, and being able to enter dental school as a just turned 21 year old, thus having the potential to start working as dentist when I'm only 24ish.

The cons would be mostly having to cram Bio I+II, Chem I+II, Orgo I+II, Calc I and possibly Calc II in just my sophomore and junior year before taking the DAT in the summer between my junior and senior year. Has anyone did this? Would it be an insane course load? I'm sort of torn on whether or not to go in as a sophomore this fall...

I'd go in as a sophomore. You'll get out a year earlier and save money. Bio and gen chem at the same time is manageable. I would not take bio I at a CC if it will not count as a prereq -just take something to fulfill your degree.
