Is it ridiculously late to apply to Bryn Mawr's pb program for the Fall? I have toyed w/ the idea of med school for a while, but have only recently made the decision. And when I make a decision, I make the decision. So I am not on the fence, but applying this late seems quite late. I have a 3.6 GPA undergrad, 1300 SAT scores, and am currently volunteering at a hospital and work as a therapist to autistic children.
SHould I wait for the next year and continue with the volunteering...or is this a good go round now?

It's fine for fall entrance, though a bit late for summer.

I interviewed during the last few weeks and BM is setting people up for rejection due to the increased volume of applications this year (they said it's almost doubled!). They have accepted lots of candidates in the past 5-6 weeks and were honest and upfront without saying, "you don't really have a shot." If most of these people accept, my perception is that there will be very few open spots left and plenty of candidates whom they would normally accept will not be offered positions.

Summer is CLOSED for BM, there is no way to get in at this point, and they told our group that the deadline is Feb 1 (hmm, would have been nice if they made that clear on their website!). You could end up on the same track as the summer starters were you to be accepted by taking Gen Chem somewhere else in the summer and starting in the fall.

It's really quite late at this point to apply anywhere that I'm familiar with, save for UPenn and Tufts. Tufts is universally seen as nothing special and not worth the money.

Whatever you decide, best of luck, at least you now know the current situation! It's late, and you'd need much more luck than you would normally!

Applicant pool doubled?? My mistake. I guess it is too late. 🙁

I just called BM and they said they're 2/3 full. Thanks for all your input, runner. I'm going to do some more research and think about working another year and then applying to BMC.
Not quite sure whether to stay in Cali and start USC, even in spite of the aforementioned failings of the program - or - stay in Cali for a year and then apply to BMC. I don't want to stay here, not start any program, and then be rejected come the 2007 rounds (god, 2007, I am getting old!)
I am not going to stress too much, because that is my nature to get frantic about decisions. I see many doing it here in these posts, and it all seems so silly.

I have been accepted to BM and had the "2 week window" to let them know. They emailed me 3 days ago and said, "no pressure, but please let us know as soon as possible if you want a spot in the summer because we're getting ready to have an admissions committee meeting and we want to know how many places we have left and its filling up." So I'd say get it in ASAP and don't be surprised if at least the summer session is closed. You CAN take chemistry somewhere else over the summer and start post-bac at BM in the fall. I have a friend who did that last year because she applied so late, and she took chem at Northwestern the summer before starting BM in the fall.
