too late to add pysch programs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You can still apply but programs will begin to wonder why the application is on the late side.

It's not too late, even though I do think your chances are best if you apply early and you might want to check the application deadlines for the programs you're considering adding since I think some programs have an earlier deadline than others.

I ended up applying to a certain program in late Nov/early Dec (the reason I was so late in applying to it was because I had heard something about the program at another interview that made me decide I wanted to check it out). They sent me an interview invitation within a week. 🙂 I definitely wouldn't recommend applying that late if you can avoid it, but if you're truly worried you might not get enough interviews then it's better to try sending more applications than it is to risk ending up in SOAP.

That being said, an AMG should be able to match with 40 applications - are you concerned about a red flag on your application?

I applied to two new programs a couple days ago. We'll see what happens.

This application cycle is a little strange. I really hope we will still get IV invites from programs. I am an USIMG with only 4/72. If this is it, then I am really worried. I have no clue what is going on. I don't know if Psych has become super competitive all of a sudden. I wasn't hoping for top tier but I thought I had a good shot at Mid to low tier programs and that is all I have applied to. Just hoping for a solid program. Good Luck!!!

I am an AMG with 4 psych IV is it too late to add programs? I applied to 40 ish programs over the first week...1 rejection so far. Several of my programs have already handed out invitations to folks. Should I add more psych programs or FM....just in case😀?

Can't hurt to add more programs. Also, if there are programs that you are really interested in, would email a very cordial the program coordinator stating your interest in their program, why you're interested, and that you would love to be considered for an interview. Last year this bought me approximately 3-4 interviews, including the program I matched into.

Remember that programs have more qualified applicants than interview slots. Information as to why you think you would be a good fit in their program is helpful.

Good luck.

Thanks very much for this advice!! Hopefully I will have more new IVs my end of next week.🙂
