Hey guys, I had my amcas sent to pritzker back during the summer. After finishing all my secondaries in October I felt that it would be wise for me to not fill it out for pritzker considering my stats (3.5, 31). It's my top choice though i don't feel like i have much of a shot. They called me today saying that they haven't received my secondary and that it was due early december. I'm thinking about just filling out this secondary. What do you guys think?

i say go for it. if its your first choice you should apply there no matter what.

Do it. If you saw the thread I just started you would have known that I'm in the same boat. Do you know what they call themselves (UC, UC-Pritzker, UCPSM, etc)? I'm wondering so I can chop a few letters out of my essay for them.

haha did you get that freaky call from uchicago this morning? stupid voice message woke me up at 8:30am to tell me that the secondary is due dec 3!!!

I got the call from Pritzker (automated no less) that repeated twice on my answering machine.

Made me slightly tempted to give the essay one more stab...but at this point, it's way too late.

thisisyourlife and nookular gave me the final push, i'm going for it. thanks guys

If I were in your position, I wouldn't apply. Pritzker does rolling admissions and also state that interviews/acceptances go out fast and early. They gave some numbers...something along the lines of 1 in 5 getting interviews in July/August and maybe like 1 in 50 get interviews at this time of year.

Unless you have some outstanding ECs or something that guarantees you'll "fit" with their school, I wouldn't apply simply because your stats aren't high enough to stand out otherwise.

But then again, if you got money to burn, I suppose it wouldn't hurt too much...

If you have money, go for it!!

If not... That's a tough decision. But if it really is your top choice, then will you kick yourself later for not having applied?

I believe they just call themselves Pritzker. The undergrad population goes by U of C or uchicago, or if you're going for nerdy/cute, U(C), but I haven't heard that too much among the med students.

Thanks.

I don't know if Pritzker is more uptight about their deadline, but so far 3 of the interviews I've gotten were submitted on the deadline date... True I have no acceptances since I haven't done any of these interviews, but it is possible.

Yeah. I didn't appreciate that wake-up call.

Dont do it, its a waste of money. Unless you are a URM, you wont get anything out of it with your stats. I guarantee it.

I don't think they're the stats-hungriest school. They're a bit more fit-oriented than you make them out to be. I have a 30 and a 3.7 and I miraculously got a pre-interview hold instead of a rejection. I realize it's not an interview, but it does suggest that they're not doing this strictly by numbers. I say go for it if you've got the desire and the cash to spare. It is a long shot, but I think that you've got a (small) shot if your personal statement, secondary essay and ECs speak to them.

Did you apply early in the cycle. At this stage, it will be almost impossible. But, if you have the money to waste, do with it what you want. I know Chicago will enjoy the money.

Since its such a long shot, i'm gonna make it the ballsiest essay ever. I'll call this my christmas present. Thanks for the advice guys
