How likely is it to receive an interview from schools I have been complete 2-3 months at? Lets say for a strong applicant, not superstar but very good (good enough to have interviewed at one top 30 school but rejected by a couple others).

Edit: More asking are these silent rejections or is there still realistically a shot even after them having my file for so long.

I would say most schools have 50-75% of interviews handed out... Still a decent amount of time left. If you have not been rejected, you have a shot

It's not over yet -- not by a long shot. 'Too Late' is probably around March.

No news is good news. IIs can be handed out until March/April for many schools.

I submitted a UMich secondary june 24th. Didnt get an II until October 17th. Almost 4 months.
My other 2 IIs took 6 and 8 weeks from the time my secondaries were submitted.

In my experience, I had all my interviews lined up by now, but it seems like this is not the case by any means. Seems like it'd be reasonable to get 1 or 2, but probably not like 5-6?

Alright well thank you guys! I'm just a little surprised I guess, I thought I would have a little more love by now, especially since one very good school that I am OOS at saw fit to interview me early. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

FWIW, I got 50% of my interview invites in september and october, and then 50% in november through february after being complete in august. But n=1. The takeaway here is that it's not over until it's over, and wondering won't do you any good.

Do you mind sharing how you fared at the schools where you interviewed late? I have a few December interviews and I'm slightly worried that I'm interviewing for the waitlist.

Invited/Scheduled/result - all schools were complete in late August

September/December/Accept
September/February/Did not attend interview
September/October/Accept
October/December/Accept
October or November, can't remember/January/Reject
November/January/Waitlist
December/January/Waitlist
February/Did not schedule interview

Don't go into an interview thinking you're interviewing for the waitlist. It's rare that schools will interview people they are not seriously considering.

Thanks for this! I've been a little insecure about my interviews because many of them are at places that seem rather out of my league, so I really appreciate you saying that. Looks like you had a great cycle, and obviously you're attending an amazing school, so congrats!

I love your avatar.

Yea, I'm kinda freaking out a bit here too. Was complete at most places late July/early August. Have gotten 1 II (coming up), 1 pre-II hold , and radio silence from around 15 other schools. Beginning to lose hope a bit...

Aren't we all....hah

Just to also put people's mind at ease, my situation was:
Average applicant in all regards
Complete mid-August
1 II in October
2 II in January (both the week after new years)

I noticed a burst of IIs in January, so stay optimistic and good-luck!

If you get an interview, you have a fair shot to get in. Physicians don't have time to waste conducting an interview, filling out an evaluation, and in some cases attending a committee meeting for some student who only might get wait listed and thats it.

From what I've seen most schools after an interview are about 30-50% acceptance, with further ranges from 20-80% depending on the school.

Thank you to the other replies. I won't feel at ease unless I get at least 1-2 more interviews.

Youre good. I was complete at a ton of schools that long and just got a MD school II yesterday (along with a few rejections of course). They gonna contact the superstars first then to us peasants.
