Hi everyone...

I am now a little over a year into PT school...and it seems the more I learn about PT, the less able I am to decide what type I want to practice...

Inpatient acute, inpatient rehab, SNF, home care, outpatient, or school settings?

Orthopedic? Neuro? Vestibular? Womens health/pelvic? Oncology? Wound Care?
Burn Care? CardiovascularPulmonary?

Geriatrics? Pediatrics?

There's so much for us to do...I'm not sure i'll ever be able to decide what I like best...and I only have 2 internships...
Any one else out there who kind of wants to try everything?

Are you saying that you only have 2 clinical rotations? How long are they? Will you be rotating to different departments throughout each of them?

Yep, only 2. our first is 8 weeks long, the last is 6 months long. I believe some people may get to rotate departments in the last one, but it depends what kind of site you're at (hospital system vs. private practice outpatient)...

Use your faculty as a resource to make contact with PT's in various specialties. If your schedule permits, try and set up observations to at least get a glimpse of what its like to work in that particular area. Building contacts like this will serve you well down the road when you do make your decision on where to specialize. HTH
