Too many "diet" drinks while studying?

For the OP, I'd try (slowly) substituting water for your soda. I had the same problem (in undergrad I would have a can on the drive over, a can during the 8am lecture, a can during the 9am lecture, etc...would usually come out to 100 oz before I got home and Id have more)

Instead of 12 cans of soda, try 11 with one glass of water and work from there. You'll probably feel a lot better as well.

That cat picture is funny though. It looks like the guy who talks on one of those commercials for blood glucose meters.

ALASKA21 -- I noticed you're a bodybuilder, how much do you weigh (if you don't mind my asking)? Do you notice a fluctuation of +/-5 lbs after you've a reached peak fitness level (when you consider yourself to be "in shape")?

I weigh 200 (6'0") normally when I just maintain my weight (stay at around 8-9% bodyfat). When I get in my best shape I'm around 187 or so and probably 5% bodyfat...and at that weight my weight varies 2-3 lbs but the biggest thing is that when you get that lean your look changes all the time based on how much water you hold.

I would say normally my weight fluctuates 2-3 pounds +/- from water

During college, I would consume about 4-6 cans of diet coke per day and usually a diet energy drink ever couple of days. I know there's all this controversy over aspartame and the DHT-resembling sucralose sweetners used in diet drinks. Do you think I've compromised my health by consuming such a large quantity of diet drinks over the years?

I've cut back on diet soda consumption recently but fear that I'll take up the habit again when I start med school this Fall. I just love studying with a diet soda in hand lol. I don't know why, but it relaxes me and just seems "right" for studying. Kinda like a hot dog at a ball game, or popcorn at the movies. What do you think?

I drink about 4-6 mountain dews a day (sometimes more). I dont eat much, but I still put on weight because of the MDs... not good.

That's just from today, and 12 per day is after having cut back. I used to drink diet pepsi max. My goal is to eventually get down to 6 per day after my diet is over.

I like how the soda cans are on the right side of the picture so that you can fit all those MCAT books in.

Day 5 without any diet drinks... It's killing me.

go for it! Let me know what its like on the other side! I am browsing this thread with a 20 oz dc - no caffeine free bs for this guy! And its after midnight!!!

I'm browsing this thread with a diet mountain dew. No wussy low-caffeine sodas to me.

Diet mountain dew has more caffeine than even regular mountain dew!

Dew is soooo good. Must... resist...

I couldn't get through the semester without diet mountain dew.

The new flavor (Mountain Dew: Voltage) is good for emergencies too. Mmmmm, mountain dew. I'm still amazed Coke has never come up with a good competitior to Pepsi's dew brand...
