Hi, this is my first post on SDN but I’ve been looking at posts for a couple of months now. Im currently a rising junior in undergrad and I hope to apply to dental school after graduating. My question is do dental schools care how many schools you attend during your undergrad? During my first year of college, I attended my state school, hated it and transferred to a private university (my current school). I love it here And plan on staying but I will have to take my pre req science classes at a CC due to me working while in school and not being able to take them at my university. My only problem is that organic chem is not offered through my university or community college at a convenient time so I will have to take it somehwere else. This would result in me having transcripts from four different schools. Will this be a problem?

I'd mainly be concerned with dental schools thinking it's strange that you will be taking science courses at a CC while taking the rest of your courses at your university. Can you not change your work schedule? I had many friends work while in school and take their pre-reqs.
I would definitely caution you against taking science classes at a community college while enrolled at a university

To answer your question, I attended two different universities and took 2 math courses at a community college while enrolled at one of them and it was never brought up. However I did not take any pre-reqs while enrolled at a university

It honestly does not matter much where you take your classes. But some schools don't like cc credits. So, if you take it at another 4-year school during the summer, it should be fine. I know people that took classes in up to 4 schools and still got accepted.

Did you take your pre read after completing getting bachelor’s? I was thinking about holding off on pre reqs until after I graduate but I wasn’t sure how that would look. I can’t really change my work schedule since I work full-time and have to pay bills. I spoke with a couple of schools and they said that they accept CC courses but prefer from a 4 year university so that might be best.

I’ve spoken to the schools that I want to apply to and they’ve all said they accept CC credits but prefer credits from a 4 year college. CC would be more convenient as far as class times and cost since I planned on doing dual enrollment but I’m thinking I might not so like do CC at all.

I took all my pre reqs during undergraduate because I was a bio major.
I’ve seen a few people post on here that they took the pre-reqs post graduation through a CC and I believe they got acceptances.
I think that would look better than simultaneously taking science classes at a community college, however it’s all a grey area

Thank you for your input. I think I’m going to go ahead and try to take as many at my university as I can and use CC as my last option.

On another note, the more schools you attend the more transcripts you have to pay for!

True. At my university, transcript requests are relatively cheap so hopefully that’s the case at most schools as well.
