I worked out my plan to fulfill the pre med requirements by my junior year and it turns out that I would need to take Physics 1&2 with lab over the summer. I have seen on many forums that this looks bad on med school applications, and that if you must take summer courses you want them to be taken at your home university. I cannot afford to take these classes at my university because the classes would be too expensive and I would have to pay for housing. Strike 1: I screwed up my first year and had to withdraw from chemistry 101. Strike 2: This year I have been on medical leave (for the same reason that I had to withdraw). Strike 3: Summer class?
So basically, I'm asking if I can afford to take a summer class. Will it jeopardize my application further with all that I already have against me?

Strike 2 isn't a strike, nor is 1 (since it is caused by 2) as long as the medical issue won't affect you in med school.

Strike 3 isn't a strike either. It doesn't matter when you take the class, and taking physics at another school doesn't matter as long as you do well.

This. Just do well in the class and you'll be fine.

In my experience, summer classes are either WAY easier or WAY harder than normal. Do some scouting before you commit.

Not a strike.

Also not a strike

I don't what ***** told you that AdComs don't like summer classes, but that person was ill-informed.

Some schools do not allow CC coursework, but amends are made for non-trads, and people who have a life outside of college. I tried taking Physics over the summer, and I knew within 10 mins on day 1 that I was in over my head, so I withdrew that afternoon.

Strike 3: Summer class?
