So....I haven't recieved any interviews yet (only a rejection from Vandy🙁), so I'm wondering if it's too early to send an update letter. I recently was accepted for an Americorps position (I graduated from college in May and am taking the year out), which I will start Sept. 21st. I've also been volunteering at another free clinic. On the secondaries that asked about my plans for a year out, I mentioned my clinic volunteering and said I would be substitute teaching for the year out. I feel like I should mention my Americorps position to the schools I applied, as it may hopefully move me up the interview list. Any thoughts?

I feel like it's too early. I know the adcoms at my school don't meet for a couple weeks right now, so some of the waiting at this point hasn't got anything to do with your application. But, I think if you wait until your Americorps position starts at the end of September, it'll be timely then, and a more compelling letter, as you'll have started, and are not just 'planning to start'.

I'd hold off for now.

Probably too early. You should at least wait for an interview.

Patience young one. September is probably far better.

vandy sent out rejections?

Yep. I got mine today by snail mail. I'm in TN though so that's probably why I got it so quick. I guess I had the cards stacked against me there anyway. While lots of other folks with my stats got interviews, I didn't go to a big name school or do research under a big name, so it hurt me more than likely.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll hold on for awhile. Is it a consensus to wait for an interview, or can I send it to some schools that I'm really interested in but haven't been informed about interview/rejection?
