Was a bit surprised. My test had a LOT of neuro, and I mean tough neuro, like name the nucleus associated with the symptoms. Had a fair amount of biochem as well. Most of the pharm was autonomics. Got the obligatory stupid questions that make no sense as well.

It's normal to feel like you failed when you left? I've looked stuff up and gotten a lot right that I thought I got wrong, but I also made some stupid mistakes and missed some easy points.

Surprinsingly, mind did not have much OMM at all. The OMM I did have was mostly anatomy. The viscero-somatic crap seemed to be ALL GI.

here's hoping I'm not retaking this thing in 5 weeks.

Did you have the question with what part of the brain gets affected the most in a cocaine user?

If it's the same one I had. I can't remember if I chose accumbens or what. I honestly couldn't remember, and was not very well prepared for that much neuro.

Did you have one about treating MRSA? (And Vanc wasn't an option). I have NEVER seen an alternative to MRSA

Haha! I totally had that question about the Nucleus accumbuns and others about cocaines effects 🙂

While most D.O. students take the USMLE for residencies, all are required to take a separate test called the COMLEX for licensing. In addition to the typical MD shtuff, there are addition written questions on OMM, osteopathic manipulative medicine, the chiropracticesque dealio.

Also, toom is not a word.

Thanks, I had absolutely no idea that toom wasn't really a word. Must be complete coincidence that the "K" is really close to the "M" on a keyboard.

🙄

A lot of time Bactrim is used to treat community MRSA. Linizolid (sp?) might have been another choice, but really if you have an abcess and it's MRSA positive, the best choice is I&D.

MRSA treatment order per my pharm lectures......
vancomycin first line
(zyvox)linezolid secondline
(cubicin)daptomycin thirdline
(synercid)dalfopristine + quinupristin last resort
...then dead
