I love this thread. Thanks or the Friday night humor.:laugh::laugh:

Can I get into an MD residency with just the COMPLEX??

This is more of just a REALLY REALLY annoying answer I come across often

Me: "so why do you want to study medicine"
Pre-med " Well both of my parents are doctors and so is my grandpa"
Me "oh ok...uh any good reasons?"
Pre-med " what do u mean? My parents are doctors"

Cant stand some premeds lol

(I've never understood why people complaint when people ask questions, any questions, on sites like this. Isn't that what this place is about?

I completely agree with this and would never discourage questions...however, here's an addition to the ambitious highschoolers category:

So I'm a senior in highschool and I took the MCAT and got a 15! The test was so superfluous (random SAT word thrown in). Will I be able to improve and get into....derm or plastics?!

I apologize :meanie:

You're right, the question is naive and probable doesn't really need asking. However, I get the feeling some on here would have the boards be totally dead due to people not being allowed to ask a question that's been asked before. It's not like anyone has a gun to your head compelling you to read every thread and post a response. If you're annoyed, get off the site for a while (directed at everyone, not just you Torr).

How about:

I'm a Freshmen in college and know that I only want to go into Neurosurgery. What Should I do?

Ballin' thread.

Why are (most) pre-meds so damn annoying?

Because most premeds aren't actually premed, but rather pre-starbucksbarista. "Sir, would you like me to draw the molecular structure of caffeine on your cup?"

Yall are forgetting, I got a parking ticket when I was fourteen years old. I called my lawyer and used the search function but nothing was like my situation. So can I still get into med school with this parking ticket on my record?

1. I tried using the search function but couldn't find any results so I'm going to ask here - what's a DO and how is it different than MD? Can I be a surgeon?

2. I have a 1.7 GPA and a 1.5 science GPA (including 6 retakes), got a 9 on my MCAT .... I tried applying MD but now it's January and I've gotten no interviews, I just discovered osteopathic medicine and really like its philosophy - is it too late to apply DO?

3. I know DOs are physicians and are the same as MD, but my mom'
s best friend's uncle has a neighbor whose son works as a CNA at a local middle-of-nowhere hospital and he said that DOs can't be surgeons .... OMG!!! Is this true? Someone please tell me that isn't true. Please provide at least 50 examples to disprove what this person is saying.

4. I want to be a DO but my parents know someone from somewhere who without any research or direct knowledge of osteopathic medicine, said something bad about osteopathic medicine. How do I convince my parents that DOs are really doctors and not a janitorial assistant (or janitorial associate)

LMAO at #2

Ughhhh I have a 3.97 GPA because I got an A- in advanced nuclearorgano rocket science for docoral students my freshman year. I have a 44T MCAT, cured cancer, racked up 50,000 volunteering/shadowing hours, and I can walk on water (and turn it into wine). Will that A- keep me out of med school?

Bejesus what happened to the days when "pre-meds" used to be regular students as opposed to grade-obsessed nuerotic robots?

Extremely high levels of competition does that to you. But, I think it's worth mentioning that the concentration of neurotism is significantly higher than in the regular premed population.

Did anyone else automatically ready this in a nerd voice?...before reading it once through before?

LOL yes I did. Not gonna lie... if a barista drew the molecular structure of caffeine on my cup it would make me kinda happy, lol.

And a big LOL at this comment from group_theory: "I have a 1.7 GPA and a 1.5 science GPA (including 6 retakes), got a 9 on my MCAT .... I tried applying MD but now it's January and I've gotten no interviews, I just discovered osteopathic medicine and really like its philosophy - is it too late to apply DO?"... so true.

LOL 👍

Love this thread. Maybe it should be stickied under the FAQs.

How much money do DOs make? Can DOs get jobs?

Do college athletes have a better chance at getting into med school?

Yeah at I'MMABallerSOM but everywhere else... negative lol

I have a really good memory and remember about the day that I was born. Since I watched the OBGYN deliver me and remember everything that happened that day, can I use that as shadowing experience on my application?

1. So I've watched all nine seasons of scrubs and I'm fairly certain I want to be a doctor. Any advice?

2. I want to be in healthcare because of the good job market but I don't like blood, what should I do?

Nowadays in the non-trad forums it seems to be: I'm a lawyer/JD and want to quit to pursue medicine. I like science and people. Thoughts?

Can DO's specialize in a field other then eyes?
