for my micro class i have to do a presentation on a microorganism. the limitations are, none. so i was wondering what you guys think of a good topic would be that will at the same time give me some prep on an organism that i will cover in pod school, i was thinking maybe the organism that causes athletes foot for example.

Tinea species cause athletes foot, fungal toenails.

Staph and strep are the most common skin, bone, and wound infections.

P. aeruginosa, E. coli and B. fragilis (diabetic wounds, etc) would also be interesting. C. perfringens causes gas gangrene, a devastating infection.

The fungal species that Feli had referred to for athlete's foot and fungal toenails are Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton metagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, and sometimes, Microsporum canis.

Feli also mentioned Staphylococcus. It is an interesting bug. Of course, you do hear a lot about MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus).
