Hi all,

I will driving down toward NY so I decided to make a detour in Philly to visit Temple. And then I will be visiting NYCPM later this week!]

Temple: They didn't have anything going on such as open house or informational session. I pretty much cold called and got a meeting with admissions. What should I expect and what sort of things should I ask about and tour?

NYCPM- I am doing an exploritory visit and also their open house (overkill?) It seems like the exploritory visit is more hands on (following students, seeing labs, etc) whereas the open house seems to be geared toward students and their parents. Also any questions or things I should ask?

Now, I have already planning on asking the following: first time pass rates, reception of the 2015 plan and why or why not?, what are they doing to advance that plan, tution-Temple since it is more expensive than others, amount of time students have off to do externships, residency placement, etc

BUt any specific things I should ask? Current and past Temple and NYCPM students, thanks in advance!

Have you looked at the interview feedback tab at the top of the page? It may help with answering/providing more questions to ask while visiting. Good luck.

I'd focus your questions on what is important to you. Are you interested in research? Do you want to graduate with a certain clinic background? Or is a particular academic experience what you're searching for?
I can't speak as to which school truly offers better what (seeing as I only attend one of them), but if you know what you are hoping to get, then you can tailor your questions/observations accordingly.
For instance, one of the reasons I chose my school was that the clinic was packed when I went to observe. There was a huge variety of cases and the students weren't on top of each other trying to get a little hands on experience.
I also was able to observe treatment for an adult clubfoot. How many times are you going to see that in this country?
In the end though, you've got to go with what works for you. You're the one that has to make it through the four years there.
