Honestly for Orgo....if you must study a lot so be it....but this is a gimme section cuz if you got the concepts down....you don't have to spend too much time studying for this section. Take it from me... Orgo on the real DAT is pretty much easier than Achiever and Topscore. Easier than Destroyer too. Whereas Destroyer was like 50% from Orgo 1 and 50% from Orgo 2.....the real DAT is probably 75% from Orgo 1.....Honestly...the basics. Similar to the orgo on the ada practice exam on the ada website....(think SIMPLE)
Gen chem was basic as well. Know concepts. Whereas Orgo was a little bit easier than destroyer, topscore and achiever, the G chem section on the real thing is a LOT easier. You gotta have the fundamentals down. Easier than SAT II and AP chem as well.
Bio is actually not that random as people say. It's actually VERY straightforward. Easier than the ADA practice exam...and on par with topscore. MUCH easier than AP bio questions from cliffs. I only got like ONE plant question and 2 physiology questions on the real thing. The rest (like 95 %) was cell bio, developmental, and biochem. I think one ecology question was in there. I'm not saying this section is a complete walk in the park...since there were like 5 lab questions that you would never find on any practice exam....for these you just have to think critically - in all honesty, these are easier than the memorization questions...cuz if you understand the concept, you don't have to memorize the specific answer associated with that question. You can infer the answer....and usually the answer sticks out like a sore thumb heh.
PAT is identical to crack dat pat. Angles on the real deal were much easier than CDP, and pattern folding was a bit harder. Overall, doable...but at times its just so boring that you feel you wanna give up. That's how i felt at like the 13th PAT question LOL....but you gotta keep goin...unfortunately lol.
For RC...there are TWO things you can do
(1) If you're a slow reader who doesn't absorb information very well (like me ....but I am getting better hehehe) than go STRAIGHT for the questions and do search and destroy. You're gonna need all the time you can get to do those questions. 60 minutes flies by.
(2) If you're an accomplished reader, I hear that you can simply read the passage once through, absorb all the details, and answer the questions without referring back to the passage much.
I can't really recommend anything here that works the best - you gotta find out what style your good at and stick with it.
QR is challenging. I was never a whiz at math so it was my worst section. But don't slack when you get to this section either. The last thing you want is to see that after all your hard work on PAT, science, and reading, that a 13 or 14 QR brings your AA down like 2 or 3 notches, and you feel ****ty for the rest of the application cycle.
I was extremely tired the morning I took this exam....it's still a dream for me that I got through without falling asleep and actually perservering through RC and QR....but if you're used to taking long standardized tests.....then this shouldn't be to bad for you. In retrospect, I really feel sorry for my mom, who is taking the CPA exam at these prometric centers.....The CPA is actually in 4 parts spread out over 4 test dates...each over 4 hours in lengths....Originally, they made you take 2 parts (8 hours) in one day.....wow...Plus the CPA questions are a bit on the psychotic side lol...
The testing center was nice. Instead of a white board and markers I got like 10 pages of scratch paper with two pencils. And they said I could put my paper up to the screen for angles lol.....I didn't....just cuz I never practiced using the "paper ruler method."
Good luck!
