Hi,
I am so confused now about how much money you can borrow per year. I just did my FAFSA renewal to get money for my MSI year this fall. The max unsubsidized Stafford is $18,500. I thought it was $38,000. My school is $29,000 per year in tuition alone, so where do I get the rest of the money to pay for everything I need. The stupid EFC for my application is $20,000 and I don't have that at all. Help!!!!!!!!

It is $38,500 for medical students. The $20,000 probably includes current income for which the financial aid office should know (or at least you should let them know) that you will not have that income during medical school.

Each school also allows private loans in addition to the FAFSA....you need cosigners and it is a little more costly...but you can get more....

Speak to your school's Financial Aid Dept...
