total energy in vertical vs horizontal spring

so for simple harmonic motion (SHM), elastic potential energy=kinetic energy in horizontal spring, but for vertical spring hanging off a ceiling, would it be potential energy + elastic potential energy=kinetic energy?

I've never come across a question with a vertical spring, usually it refers to a pendulum in those kinds of situations. However, if there were some case like that, I would have to somewhat agree with what you said (but not sure).
