Hi: I hope somebody can help me with this question....My dad had prostate cancer about 7 years ago, he had surgery twice and radiotherapy. Since then he is OK and his blood work (PSA) is normal. The problem is that as result he ended with total incontinence. The doctor said he had to perform an exam to see what was the cause of this but when they tried to pass a catheter they couldn't due to some fibrosis. They then performed a surgery to remove that tissue but when my dad returned to have the exam done the catheter did not pass...I cannot even begin to tell you how discouraged he is and how mad I am with all this. Is it common for this surgery not to work?
Where can I get more info on incontinence and treatments for it? Any input would be greatly appreciated...

... this is sadly not surprising.
Incontinence is a recognised side effect of prostate surgery.
Your father has incontinence, which may be due to a bladder neck contracture.
Bladder neck contractures do recur after surgery.
What he really needs is a a good bladder neck incision to open up the bladder neck, followed by an artificial urinary sphincter. He should see a urologist who specialises in this area of urology.
