this is my second time applying and i don't think i can reapply again.

i interviewed at NYU and got waitlisted. i don't expect to hear from them till march/april but i feel like i won't get in at this point. i already did a master's program and don't even feel like looking at another career path right now.
i invested too much time and effort into this and now i just feel...ugh.

i guess many of you are in the same boat but have enough restraint to not vent in public like i am doing. 🙁

hey, i know its easy to give up, but i highly encourage not to. I remember reading a post just earlier this year or late last from a guy who took FIVE cycles to get in. First off, you are on a wait list. I know a lot of people who wish they could even get one at this point. NYU is one of the schools that usually has a decent amount of movement due to large class size/cost. I think you have a solid chance of getting in, but there is no guarantee for anyone. Keep you head high and if not this year, life goes on. Keep on pushing through and you'll thank yourself for it in the long run.

stay positive buddy, if its meant to be, you'll get into NYU. Keep calling them and figure out where your position is, i'm pulling for you!

Keep your hopes up. Everything might look like **** now but it will all work out in the end.

I agree with what everyone is saying. HANG IN THERE. If you KNOW dentistry is what you're meant to be doing with your life, somehow things will manage to work themselves out for you!

I also agree that there is a VERY good chance that you will be accepted from NYU's waitlist! They wouldn't have waitlisted you if they didn't see your potential to be a fabulous dentist!

Wait list at a private school is one of the best places to be!! Look, many people will turn down NYU for their state school. Many people will turn down NYU, for any school because of the cost! You don't know what's going to happen so do whatever it is that keeps your mind on the positive and remember that YOU WILL BE WHATEVER YOU WANT TO BE IF YOU PUT YOUR HEART IN IT. Don't worry, you can and WILL do it. 🙂

yeah. ditto on what everyone else is saying. keep your head up b/c it's not over yet.

i would call NYU every now and then to express your continued passion and interest, while also trying to get a better gauge on where you stand.

This year was my 5th cycle and I finally got in. I have been wait listed for 3 years. How much do you want it.

If you dont get in this cycle (which im hoping becomes an irrelevant "if" and you get into nyu), stay strong.. yeah you might sulk around for a few days, but then blast your favorite im-ready-to-take-on-the-world-to-accomplish-my-goals song (whether it be Journey or Eminem) and come back next cycle with a monster app.. and you can always find solice in the fact that you have the support SDNers everywhere

What are your stats and what schools did you apply to/when did your app go out

if you don't mind me asking?

Im right there with you partner, this is my third time applying, went back to school to get my masters. Everything went well with my masters, high gpa, teaching experience including teaching/ tutoring current 1st year dental students.

Waitlisted at ohio state but im pretty high on the list so it doesnt look like very promising to get in. There are many people in your situation, so just stay positive find a way to improve your app and you'll get there eventually .

Just sucks that mistakes made 8 years as a 18 year old kid can haunt you for so long.

Hang in there: If there's a will, there's a way!! It's only Feb and NYU interviews till April. You still have PLENTY of time till NYU's class is finalize!! But do start looking into masters or a post bacc JUST IN CASE. Best of luck to you!!!! Have faith!!

You finally showed your face on SDN lol. You've been MIA for a while. We got 2 more weeks till we find out!!!! Let's do this.

I finally got mutliple offers on my third cycle. Apply early, apply "smart" (schools that take many out of staters, so do your research!!). Buy the ADA book to dental schools if you need to. Make sure your DAT is competitive (that and GPA are biggest things to GET the interview) If you get the interview, at many schools that's what i feel makes or breaks it for you. Summary, get the figures to get you in the door, then use the interview to seal the deal.

I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now and I think some of the people on this thread that have applied for multiple cycles could help me out. I had three interviews in November and the only thing I've heard back was that my application was being put on hold at one of them. At this point do I still have an alright shot getting in somewhere or has my application been put in a list with others to be rejected at a later date? If someone could give me some insight from past experience I would appreciate it a lot. The hardest part for me right now is not knowing where I am going to be living next year and not being able to make preparations.

Hold your head up high kalia! Don't give up! If dentistry is what you really want to do you will give it all you've g ot

every one said it and i will repeat it again. Do not give up. U just have to stay positive and rmr it's too early to give up. just try to stay busy. gluck . hpe u get in.

Exactly.
3 years, 2 application cycles for me. Just got accepted (Maryland) yesterday. Don't give up.

Hardly007 - you rock.
