I have posted a while back stating my current status and whatnot.... and here I am almost a year later and I realized that I'm basically in the same situation as before. I really thought that retaking the courses I got C's in (organic chemistry and biology) would improve my GPA significantly... However, after doing calculations today, I realized that it only boosted my GPA by .2.... So now my stats are: cumulative: 3.1, pre-reqs: ~3.2-3.3. I already know that my GPA is really low but the Fall 2016 cycle is coming around the corner and I don't really have time to retake more classes. I just feel extremely down because if I don't get in this cycle, that's a whole 2 years of delay (apply 2017 cycle, and start school in 2018). Is there anything I can do during this short time to increase my chances? I have over 400 hours of PT observation hours and will receive strong LORs from my physical therapist and Physiology professor.

How's your pre req GPA? Also what's your last 60 GPA? I would say just carefully target schools that are most favorable to your GPA. You could also do another full fall semester and target schools with late application due dates of Jan 2017 or later.

So your prior GPA was a 2.9? If so, that .2 points was extremely important as the cut off for a huge amount (most?) of schools is 3.0. If your GPA is a 3.1 now it will open you up to a lot of different schools that you would have gotten automatically rejected from last year

Agree with above. I was in a similar situation and went from a 2.9 to a 3.1 and it made all the difference. I went from straight rejections to straight acceptances. I think it really depends on your overall pre reqs too. My pre req GPA didn't look that good on paper, but I had retaken everything recently for an A (my bad grades were pretty old).

Also, I think when I applied the second time, schools liked that I took the time to take a ton of retakes over that year to show them I could handle the course load....even though it only bumped me up a few tenths of a point.

My cumulative GPA is a 2.73, I got in a program. Be smart, be selective.

I did the same thing as you and got in my top schools my. Universities will now at least look at your applications. Apply to all instate schools. Get over a thousand hours. Basically be undeniably strong everywhere else. Also you must ROCK the interview when you get one.

Agreed that you should research schools that take your GPA from the last 60hrs of your undergrad, if that is more favorable.

Also, if it is available, it would be a good idea to seek out experiences as a research assistant, as that experience is important for many programs.
