I did my prereqs at a community college but I stayed for 2.5 years and now my goal is to matriculate within 1.5 years all while doing research, volunteering, shadowing, working, etc.

I have two possible scenarios and I would like some advice:
Option A
Spring 2013
  • Biochem I
  • Inorganic Chem
  • Chem Literature
  • Calc II

Fall 2014
  • Physical Chem I
  • Analytical Chem

Spring 2014
  • Biochem II
  • Physical Chem II or Other Elective

Option B
Spring 2013
  • Inorganic Chem
  • Chem Literature
  • Calc II

Fall 2014
  • Biochem I
  • Physical Chem I
  • Analytical Chem

Spring 2014
  • Biochem II
  • Physical Chem II or Other Elective

Option A gives me an easier course load; I've heard Biochem I/II are very memorization heavy and Biochem I will serve as a great review of organic for MCAT. It will also allow me to establish a relationship with the director of the Biochem/Pre Med program at my Uni and possibly do research in the summer. However the problem is that it leaves a gap semester between Biochem I and II.

Option B is more difficult but I've been told PChem and AChem are very math/practice based. It also allows for a smooth transition between Biochem I and II. However, I imagine I'll be interviewing at this time so that is a difficult.

It seems Option A is the better choice. Any thoughts?

Biochem, A. Chem, and P. Chem would be A LOT all at the same time, especially with interviews. Biochem I will definitely help for the MCAT (in more ways than just being a review for organic). I would say Option A, however I'm in a similar situation and taking Biochem II next semester after not having taken Biochem I since last fall semester, and that's somewhat daunting to me. Still, I'd go with Option A.
