Wow! You are quick. I am still working on Question 17. 😳

i was able to take an essay i had written for another school (usc i think) and rework a few things...added a little, deleted some...i just really want to be quick if it means i have a better chance of securing an interview.

Good luck to everyone else! Hope to see you up north...

I think this might be interesting for all of us:

Could any current students from Touro California kindly describe what's it like to study and live around there? I've heard there's no dorm on Mare Island itself, so how are prices and living conditions in Vallejo? Do most people rent studios or share homes? Does anyone commute from San Francisco? What does it cost to get to SF by ferry or train, or driving and paying the tolls?

Any information is appreciated, DO and Health Sciences students are welcome to post!

I got my big yellow envelope today! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!

Just for those who want to know, my application was mailed on 8/6 by PharmCAS

Has anyone started on the application? How did you guys manage to fit everything in the boxes?

Hey, I received the same rejection letter on Saturday. 🙁

I submitted my PharmCAS on 7/22. They didn't give me a specific reason either.

Yeah, what a bummer huh.. Good luck on your other applications though!

I emailed the school to ask why I received the rejection and they told me it was probably because of my low science gpa. 🙁

Is there a number for Touro you can call to talk to somebody. I got the supp invitation but they said that my anatomy class didn't count. I think it is an error on their part. I need to call them up to ask. I emailed jlee but didn't get a reply back. If anybody can help me out I would appreciate it very much.

They did the same thing to my buddy. He got his supp invitation along with a letter stating that he still needed to complete 3 units of calculus I. He has already completed 4 units of calculus I and 4 units of calculus II and received A's in both courses. He sent an email 6 days ago and offered to send Touro transcripts, but he hasn't had a response yet.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but at least you know there are others out there in the same situation. 😀 I'll let you know if they respond to his email.

what the heck is up w/ the touro supplemental?!
one of the questions gives 4 seperate areas/lines to write in for a single question meaning you have to strategically fit 4 sentences in those areas.

why don't they just give you one big box instead of 4 small boxes/areas?!?!

just to let you guys know, touro is sending out interviews already

Do you know when the first batch of interviews will be? If they are sending out interviews letters are they also sending out rejections letters? Thanks.

Did u get to called Julie Lee, and asked her for dates? Is the first interview in october sometimes? I don't know about rejeciton letters, but interview letters for sure. Good luck.

I am a P-2 at Touro and so far I'm enjoying the program. There are some dorm rooms available on Mare Island, but most students prefer to rent a house on the island or across the bridge in Vallejo. There are plenty of apartments available in the Vallejo/Benicia area also. I would not recommend commuting from San Francisco because it is too far away and you would pay a lot in tolls/gas/ferry rides. Roundtrip ferry tickets are about $24.

Hope that helps some!

That really helps, thank you Stephie!

One more question, if I may: is the distance between Vallejo across the bridge and the campus walkable? It would be nice to live within a walking distance from the school, since I don't drive. Knock on wood.

BTW, I got the invite to the interview today. Its a yellow envelope with the letter and some hotel information. My PharmCAS was submitted early, and the supplemental within a week after receiving it. Good luck to everyone:luck:!!!

i got an interview invitation in the mail today. im gonna call monday to schedule an interview. and since i know everyone will ask...

science gpa= 3.25
overall = 3.2
8 mos pharmacy exp
no community service

Invitation is by mail and I submitted my supplemental application like over a week ago. i was surprised by the quick response, i thought it would've taken much longer

I also wanted to ask those who are going to interviews, are you going to stay in the hotel suggested in the booklet? I'll have to get a hotel and everything since i'm not in that area so if anyone can suggest a good, inexpensive place to stay, that would be great. Right now the suggested hotel sounds pretty cool because of the whole shuttle thing

not congratulating anyone yet, too afraid to jinx it:scared:.

guys, i really think their hotel is the way to go.

i wanted to get something in SF, but changed my mind.

shuttle to main entrance works for me.

Congrats on your interview invite!

No it isn't possoble to walk from apts in Vallejo across the bridge to Mare Island. You might want to look into renting a house on the island with some other students

When I went for my interview last year I stayed at the recommended hotel and did not regret it. Mare Island is tricky to navigate if you haven't been there before so having a driver do the work for you is nice. My shuttle was a little late getting to the interview, but the driver called the school to let them know we were on our way and it ended up being fine.

does anyone know how we could change the name of this thread to designate it as the official Touro Vallejo thread? thanks.

Hey everyone... I too applied to Touro Univ. Cali and I received my suppl. about 2 weeks ago and gave it to them that same week. I didn't receive an interview letter and am absolutely freaked out!! I turned in my pharmcas app. 3 weeks into June so I was def. in the 1st batch of applications... any words of encouragement or any words at all??? HELP!! 😳

congrats ntoriusyaz!

thanks! im really excited and so glad they aren't making me wait for months like other schools are. good luck with your app!

We're all in the same boat here.

An interview doesn't constitute acceptance.

There's no control over what happens until the next step.

Everyone is a little scared, but its part of the process.

We do what we can and hope for the best!

You got the supplemental application which means you bypassed the step; if you read this thread, there were some individuals who did not so I think you should not worry. Also, Touro is holding interviews till March, which is a lot more interview oppportunities. Don't lose hope and good luck with your applications!

FYI, the first interview date is 10/11, thursday. a month from now. i hope to see you guys in cali. good luck.

i signed up for the interview on friday 10/12. hope to see some of you there😀

i also chose friday. there will only be 10-12 applicants per interview day, so we'll definetely find out who hides behind the mysterious forum names 😱. did anyone else choose friday? how about googleit?

Congrats on your interview invite!

But it's definitely possible to bike it. I'm a P1 and find the commute to be not bad at all, but then again I've commuted on my road bike through 3 total snowy winters in Idaho and S. Philly. It's about 2.25 miles from when you get on the bridge to the campus and there's little traffic besides students. I'm about another 2.25 miles south of the bridge in Vallejo and usually cover the 4.5mi in about 22-25 minutes, so living off the island and w/out a car is possible. There are also a handful of DO and other students that bike, but we're not that many.

Stephie, I remember reading your posts when I was applying. If you see me at school I'm Roger. Later.

Hey!

To the few who were kind enough to give me support, THANK YOU! Sometimes it's really hard to think of the positive... I'll keep you guys posted on my situation.. in the meantime, congrats on interviews and GOOD LUCK!! 🙂

Count me as well on Friday 10/12. See you all there. Sooo nervous and excited at the same time.

Shopping time for outfit. yeah! =)

i feel left out! haha
i mailed my supplemental out today...

guys, i have a good feeling about everyone here! imagine if we are all in the same class of 2008, and have already know each other for a year! how cool is that? i think i'm getting more sentimental with age...

Hi, guys.
I got my interview invitation today.
I am going to call them tomorrow.🙂

It sounds like 10/11 is earliest date, and some of you choose Friday.
I am working....😡
Is there sat. interview date? like 10/13?

wow lots of interviews
is it possible that they're granting EVERYONE with supplementals an interview and then weeding people out that way?
(i don't want to sound negative or anything...just a realistic question)
after all, the supplemental invitation DID say "i hope to see you during your interview"

Wow that's great that you bike to school everyday! I'm impressed. By the way I'm also from the Philadelphia area! Good Luck on exams this week and see you in school 🙂

this is probably true.

i mean, how badly could someone mess up the supplemental to get rejected on that alone? they will weed out people during the interview, but not based on the interview alone either. they will probably give a grade for the interview, combine this grade with our other stats, and make a final decision. they want to see who shines 👍 and who does a britney routine 👎 during the interview.

this is pure speculation, of course. but don't forget that this forum doesn't represent the overall pool of applicants, otherwise how would we all be scheduled for tier one, which is only 20-24 people?

I applied probably a month later than most of you who've received something from Touro in a yellow envelope. I submitted my PharmCAS on 9/1.. anyone in my boat? =P
