:luck:So, How did everyone did in today's interview? I just feel much relaxed!! Now, I have to take the flight back to LA tonight. I think the interview questions just made me totally blacked out! 🙁 Well, just wish everybody good luck!!

For those who completed an interview at Touro, do you think i may be able to stop by MARRIOTT hotel to get........the "Evans Airport Shuttle" together with students who are the guests of this hotel.

Thanks

if you're wanting a ride back to the airport, the Evans Airport Shuttle will just charge you $29 (cash only). You need to look at handout they gave you to see what times they will stop by the Marriott. There's different pick up times.

what does the invitation to do the touro supplemental really say? does that mean we got our 1/3 foot in the door =P

does anyone know what the chances are (probability or any statistics) of how many people are invited for interviews after they finished their supplemental?

hope everyone's process is going relatively smoothly - happy holidays 🙂

I think that getting a supplemental application is a great thing, because not everyone gets one. However, turning it in doesn't guarantee an interview.

I believe that they just invite people who has a complete application on an as need basis.--I guess kind of like rolling admissions, the early one turns it in, the higher chance of getting an invite.

Last year, I received a supplemental and turned it in, but never received an interview invite. This year, I spent more time on the supplemental and after turning it in ASAP, I was invited to interview. Hope that helped.

Good luck.

From my interview experience, I learned from Mr. Davis that this year there will be about 3000 applications submitted by the end of the application deadline, of which 1500 (hmm.. it may have been 1000, I'm not too sure because I didn't write it down) will be invited to submit a supplemental application. About 450 will receive an interview invitation that will fill the 100 seats available. He made it very clear that they accept more than 100 students because not every student accepted will take the seat at Touro (they go to other schools basically), and there are roughly 180 acceptance letters that go out. So chances of acceptance are very high if you do interview with them. Good luck!

I received an email from Mr. Davis this afternoon that I was accepted!! but I will be going to Loma Linda, so good luck with those waitlisted--it'll be one more seat for you guys! 🙂

Can i get any suggestion on where I should stay and the transportation

even though its pretty expensive, i would still suggest the Marriot deal Touro recommended since you won't have to worry about getting to the school. i stayed at Marriot the night before the interview, and decided to drive there to check out the campus before hand, and well.... i could not find the place since its surrounded by lots of old buildings and new model homes... so yeah i would recommend Marriot since they take care of everything for you... the Marriot shuttle drops you off in front of the school and picks you up at the same place when you are done.

the quality inn offers a shuttle for 5 dollars round trip...save yourself 50+ dollars and stay at the quality inn

the place is very nice and not ghetto. free breakfast too and a computer with internet in the lobby

Hello -
I sent in my supplemental application last Monday - and now I am waiting to hear back from Touro! I would be very interested in going to this school. Is there anyone else that has applied to this school and recently sent in their supplemental?
Thanks!

I have an interview date on Thursday Feb. 7. Anyone else going on this date?

i am also going on feb 7th. i just got my plane ticket and I am going to stay with a friend that lives in SF. I'm trying to figure out transportation. How are you planning on getting there?

I'm withdrawing my application... I got the supplemental invite back in summer '07; completed it but never sent it in. There are only two schools I want to attend (SF and SC). So, that's one more possible spot for you guys. Good luck!

How long does it take for Touro to let you know whether or not they want you to fill out a supplemental after they recieve your info from PharmCAS? PharmCAS sent out my info in early December and I havn't heard anything from Touro. I tried calling but I just got an answering machine. I've heard from UOP and UCSF, so I'm just wondering why its taking so long to hear anything from Touro.

😱😱😱 can you tell us why?😱😱😱

1. 2 years experiential/2 years didactic,
2. Networking with professionals in the area (beneficial for when I graduate)
3. I like the location (close to friends/family)
4. I would like to practice pharmacy in California, instead of returning back home to my state. (related to reason 2)

Hey Guys,

So I have an interview on Feb 1st and I have all these questions to prep from but I'm feeling overwhelmed with all this information! Can anyone who has already interviewed at this school give me some motivation or any words of encouragement?! :scared: I've already read thru the interview-feedback section of SDN too and got an impression but the closer it gets, the more nervous I am!!

Thanks in advance!!

Does anyone who had the interview on 01/10, 01/11 get an email from Mr. Davis yet? Is he going to let us know today?

Woo wee, just received the supplemental app. this past Saturday.

PharmCAS mailed out 12/10/07.

How many interview dates are left by the way?

I am going to apply to Touro.

Any tips, hints, or strategy?

How much is the application fee?

when is the deadline for the supplemental?

i don't know if i'm going to submit it though because i only have a top 3 of schools i already applied to.

Those are the reasons why you wouldn't want to go to this school.

1) They just take your money and you don't do anything for the last two years. It could've been three year program where you don't pay tuition for an extra year and start working a year early but they decided not to. Ask anyone in the pharmacy school and they will confirm. Last two years nothing. You don't pass or study you move on and graduate.
2) Every school has this!
3) It is the worse place ever. It is a haunted place. Absolutely nothing to do for four years. (Military Base) Whatelse did you expect.
4) There are 6 more schools in california. I don't know why this one😱

From what I here nothing is organize about that school. But whatever Good Luck.

What do you have against the school? Did you get rejected? The best thing to do is to retake classes and improve your academics to re-apply...bashing on SDN might make you feel better but in the end you still lose 👎

I know this is fairly late in the game to ask, but Touro doesn't require any communication/ speech course as a pre-req?

Ok, nevermind. I received a letter stating that I am NOT invited to submit a supplemental. Now I'm kinda sad, but it wasn't entirely unexpected. 🙁

Good luck to the rest of you! 🙂
best of luck to u also .... and i need ur help for information regarding studies ... if u dont mind me than reply me as fast as possible... bye tc

My interview is on Feb. 8. I'm planning to fly into San Jose International Airport on Wednesday and drive to Touro for my interview on Friday's morning. Does anybody from the Bay Area know how the traffic is like on the 880N and 80E around 6:00-8:30a.m.? I'd really appreciate any response regarding this.

traffic is horrible at that time. that's when most ppl drive to work. your best bet is to fly to oakland and then rent a hotel in vallejo.

Traffic is pretty bad. I'm going to take the ferry from the SF ferry station and then a cab to the campus.

Any idea as the essay question for Touro for this year or prior year except what is listed on their website?

If I understand correctly, you are accepted to 3 schools. Good for you. By any change if you applied to Western as well, can you share info regarding their essay question. Thank you for all your help.
🙂

I got my interview on 12/6. I got my acceptance email a week later. But I deposited with Western instead. So luckily, I didn't have to waste $2000.The interview was mostly fine. Not too hard. The essays were really easy.

1. Who do you admire the most and why?
2. What academic difficulties did you have and how did you overcome it?

And 2 other questions that they asked that I don't quite remember. Nothing science or pharmacy-related.

The campus was kinda gloomy. The faculty was really nice. Mostly, I enjoyed my visit there.

CONGRATS! if you don't mind me asking..what r ur stats? and if u can give us any tips on the interview that would be great 🙂

Thanks! My cum: 3.30, Science: 3.28, Math: 3.21 (PharmCAS)

Well for the writing section just be sure to know how to do the standard 5 paragraph essay format. The actual prompt wasn't pharmacy related, but assessed how one's written skills are. Also, if I remember correctly, they asked for a maximum of 4 paragraphs, but I wrote 5.... my conclusion was just one sentence... I didn't want to seem as though I didn't follow directions.

For the interview, I thought it was really chill. Just be yourself and as everyone has mentioned, don't dominate the interview session and don't just sit there.

Trust me, this has been a long journey and if you guys don't get in this year, keep trying! Good luck!

Hi Everyone I got accepted to Touro back in december but decided not to attend there because I got into Loma Linda which is closer to where I live. I can give you guys some pointers on the interview and what they asked me. First off the essay is really easy and has nothing to do with pharmacy. The topic I chose to answer was if you could spend time with anyone in history who would it be and why...so I chose Socrates because I enjoy philosophy and its a good topic to add to. The Dean was super nice perhaps the nicest dean I've met during my interviews and in general everyone there is nice. The group interview is good too and my friend attends that school so i got to talk to one of the professors a day before my interview and he said basically don't talk too much or too little...if you do your not getting in. Also he pointed out that its ok not to answer first but try not to answer last. Also don't always answer first because the reason for the group interview is to see how you interact in a group setting and they don't like a dominant individual. Finally he said that do not bash or talk bad about someones answer because remember its a group setting. So This is how I prepared.

What I did was go to the pharmacy school feedbacks and prepared to answer those questions. They asked those questions for sure. For my group they asked me

1) introduce urself, y touro, y pharmacy
2) what drawbacks do u see in pahrmacy
3) what will pharmacy be like in 5 years
4) y is meds so expensive here than other countries
4) teamwork question like if 1 person didnt work how did u handle it
5) last question wat u like to do for fun
6) If hte pharmacy is really busy and backed up what will you do to help free up time for hte pharmacist.
7) Where do you see pharmacy heading to in the future.

P.S. There is another aspect that they really look at that's really important to them and if you really want to know PM me because my friend has a interview there on Feb 15 so I don't want to give it away in the forums but I'll be happy to tell you privately. Its nothing major but something they really look for in a person.

I am so happy - I recently received my interview invitation and I have an interview scheduled for early April. It's still two months away, so that is disappointing....Does anyone else have an interview in April?

my friend had his interview last year back in april and got accepted to Touro, so don't be discouraged if your interview is in april...

good luck!

Hi. I too have an interview scheduled in early April. I called last week to schedule, but the lady who does the scheduling was out sick. So I left a msg, but she never called back. So I finally called back on Thurs and they said the next available date is in April. Yea, kind of disappointing, but at least I received an interview 👍.

GL to you all 🙂

yes. I have an interview on this date. Good luck to both of us lol...I'm very nervous rite now....

😛😉
