Touro NY is currently my top choice because my stats fit closer to there 2013 incoming class averages and I love NYC. My only worry is the quality of their facilities. I was looking at pictures online and it looked like the "university" was located in an apartment-style complex above a Chinese food store and some clothing stores. This sort of worries me and makes me question their integrity in the "DO community" and the quality of the education they can offer. Can anyone that has visited the school personally or is/has gone there vouch for its academic quality?

supposedly this is a case of judging the book by its cover. I've heard the inside is amazing and very state of the art. but I haven't had a chance to see myself to confirm this

The inside of the school, technological capacity, and facilities are all extremely nice - a lot nicer than some of the large MD schools I interviewed or have worked at.

The outside of the school is kind of rough, but that comes with Harlem and NYC in general. If you want a suburban sprawling campus, this is not for you. Personally, I think it's an amazing opportunity.

The 2017 stats are no where near what the Class of 2013 stats were - the school was brand new then. The current first year class, excluding masters transfers from the internal program, has a 30 MCAT average. The school, because of the amazing location and networking connections NYC offers, is on the up and up.

You'll be very surprised at your interview if you land one - I know I was.

He said the 2013 incoming class (not graduating class); not sure which one he meant to say though.

Easiest way to figure out the quality of the facilities is to take a tour of the school. Hit up the admissions department for a tour or ask them when the next open house is.

You can potentially wait for a tour during your interview. I would take the initiative and take a tour ahead of time so you can talk about it during your interview.

Ahh I misread that, my bad.

Well, I wish you the best of luck applying. I think you should definitely take a tour of the school and check it out, especially if you want to be in NYC. I agree with DwightSchrute, take a tour of the school beforehand if you're interested. Having a meaningful connection to why you want to be in Harlem/NYC/Touro goes a long way in interviews.

TouroNY is definitely one of top choices as well.
