For those who know about 2+2 program at Touro University, I understand that during the first 2 years, it is all about studying...but for the last two years, can I do rotation in any clinical or retail pharmacy as long as I finish 2400 hours? Since I live in SoCal, if I finish 2 years studying and plan to do rotation (last 2 years) at SoCal, is it fine that the rotation is so far away from Touro University campus? It is just that my mom have been ill recently and I hope to be closer to home after 2 years of away. Thx guys.

hey! i hope someone from touro sees you post because i am wondering the same thing. if anyone can help answer we'd definitely appreciate it!

What I really want to know is that since the last two years are pretty much about rotation (and completing the require hours), I do not have to do my rotation at hospital or retail pharmacy near the bay area right? We can pretty much let Touro know where we want to do our rotation or do we do our rotation where they put us?

sorry i never attend touro to give you an exact answer, but i know my friend...she went to touro for 2 years then toward the end of those 2 years she got married bc she was able to go back in her hometown and do rotations there for another 2 years...hope that helps

Woot. I guess maybe that's the benefit of 2+2. 2 years at touro and 2 years rotation back at SoCal. i guess this is my school of choice. Thx for the info😀

yay for 2+2 if that's the case 😍

can anyone verify that this is correct by any chance?

I talk to one of the pharmacist that I worked at and they said to me that during rotation, you can pick the hospital or retail you want to do rotation. Many school like USC, western, and LLU have 3+1 program or so and often time, student have to study and do some rotation during their P1 to P3. Year 4 is fully rotation (year 4 often do not have enough hours to complete for licensing). For touro, it is special in that the last two years are meant for only rotation and it is enough hours to complete 1500 hrs (not 2400hrs). So yea...pretty excited about this after talking with the pharmacist.

I am currently a P1 at Touro, and yes, the last two years are pretty much just all rotations. I almost never see any P3's or P4's around campus. It's a pretty cool concept as you get more experience in the actual field, however, the didactic portion is pretty compacted (we take 20 units every semester so be prepared to dedicate every hour to pharm school). Here is a link that explains the whole concept of the 2+2 program:

I actually go to Touro NY but I can help answer. I don't think you get to pick where you do a rotation, the sites are chosen by the school, and then there is a lottery for the sites.

but does that mean we can ask the school at least which city we want to rotate or will they pretty much choose the facility/hospital/retail we have to do rotation? I do hope to do rotation somewhere in SoCal at least...but thanks for the info. 🙂

I look at pg. 55-57 and what does it mean P3 spring callback and P4 fall callback? does that mean that after 1 year rotation, they want to know how we did at the facility/hospital/retail and schedule the next rotation for P4? Is it possible sprinkle0420 that you asked a professor at your school about this? Does that mean that the facility we do rotation have to be near school? Thanks

I am actually not quite sure what callback means...I can try and find out sometime this coming week for you. I know for P3 they want you to stay within a 50mile radius of campus as far as rotations are concerned, and from what I heard, you don't get too much say as to what city you can do your rotations at. P4 year I hear they are a little more accomodating for the LA people....you might be able to get a rotation in Socal if there are enough slots open. I'm just a P1, so I don't know a whole lot about the rotation process yet.
