It is a tough decision, but I have to make the decision in two weeks.

Both schools are relatively new, so it is very hard to predict based on reputation.
MU-COM shows better facilities and faculties with strong ambition. The interview process is well organized, and affiliation hospitals are very strong. Living cost is very low.

Touro-NY is in NYC, and it is very attractive. I found many bad feedback regarding Touro from SDN. However, it actually looks better than I thought during the interview. Student tour was cancelled due to huge interview population, so I did not get any feedback from current students. Matching results from touro-NY are decent. However, Living cost is very high.

I really appreciate any feedback.

First of all, congrats on being accepted to multiple schools 🙂 Even though I'm sure it's a difficult decision to have to make in the next couple weeks. I guess when it comes down to choosing for me, the big thing is: what is the most important thing you want in a school? (Is it the money? Don't go to Touro then. Is is not being a guinea pig? Don't go to Marian then.). I know probably everything there is to know about Marian, but not Touro because I didn't apply. But questions regarding both schools: are their curriculums significantly different? How much board prep do they give you? Do their rotations allow you to rotate where you would essentially want to practice?

Sorry for not giving you any concrete opinions (but as a fellow Marian acceptee....Marian Marian! 😉), but I honestly think this isn't a decision anyone can make for you. You just have to choose what the most important things are in a school for you and go with the school that best does that for you. 🙂

Has marian given you a list of clinical sites? Indiana university is the only medical school in Indiana and they own most of the hospital in the state. If the sites are good, I'd probably pick Marian.

I'm trying to make a similar decision between Marian and KCOM so I understand your dilemma, especially since I change my mind at least twice a week. You just need to decide what things are most important to you for medical school. For me, it's location, cost, and opportunity.

I can't really provide much insight on Touro - I applied but decided not to submit my secondary. As for Marian, I feel like most of the concerns one would have about starting at a new school have been reconciled. Community support is outstanding - even from MDs, Indiana University, etc and everyone involved is really enthusiastic about making the school a success. In the end, it's really up to you though. I know I'll probably be struggling until Dec.14 to make a decision so you aren't alone!

In your case, I would choose KCOM. It's the first DO school to be established.

I wouldn't go to a new school or any other new program. I guess it's personal preference, though. I interviewed at Touro and thought it was decent, so I would pick Touro.

And KCOM vs. Marian? Seriously? A track record of 120 years vs. no record. The choice seems obvious to me, but people have different priorities which is understandable.

I don't want to hijack this person's thread (I made a thread in the specific DO school forum if you care to share more insight!) For a while I thought the decision was a no-brainer but I have personal interests that led to me heavily consider Indianapolis/Marian. 😳

Are the newer schools easier to get into? And congrats on the two acceptances, can I get the one that you decline lol
