Hi guys..for those who interviewed at Touro in CA, how do you feel about the 2 week notice? I personally liked Touro...I could understand how the location could turn off some people, but as one of the M1s mentioned, you will be spending 95% of your time w/your books, so why does it matter??

I really liked the friendly atmosphere. Students, though stressed, seemed happy. The interview was very low stress...and not formal at all. The match list is good, and there seems to be no known problem with their board scores. As much as I hear about the rotation sites, I heard 95% get their first choice. Everybody, including the director of admissions, did little to no effort to "sell" the school..which can be considered good in some ways.

Of course, there are things to be concerned about as well, such as limited housing "near" the school, Tech-less-ness of the school (no wireless, etc), high tuition that does not pay for a prep course...and others..

Touro just seems like its own little supportive community in the middle of no where..my only problem is that a two week deadline to accept/reject their offer would not give me a chance to hear back from other schools..i guess we all deal with this at some time in this process..

Touro was last on my list..until i went to interview there, and felt really comfortable.I just wanted to know what you guys think about this whole 2 weeks notice thing.

Personally, I feel mixed feelings about the 2 week deadline. I am applying only to DO schools and was under the impression that all schools followed the calender on the AACOMAS website. (giving us that are accepted before November until December to make a decision) If I would have known about the deadline I would have scheduled my interview later in the season. I would be happy and pleased to attend TOURO-NV. I felt very comfortable at the interview and the faculty and students greeted us with open arms. I have no doubt that everyone there will succeed by working as a team.
I have other interviews next week and a the plane tickets are paid...so off I go to some more interviews. It'll be good to see all of my options.
It is definitely a plus to not have to wait long to hear if you get in. I hope we all get good news on Friday. Best wishes!

Hi guys,
I just interviewed at Touro too. I've known about the 2 week deadline for quite some time, but TUCOM is also my #1 DO school of choice. I grew up in the bay area so maybe I have a bias.. however, even though the school is in the middle of nowhere, it IS in the bay area. So basically , you can live anywhere in that area (Berkeley, Benecia, Walnut Creek, SF, Marin etc) and be comfortable. I've never spoken to a student who didn't LOVE it there and I've never been more impressed by the faculty and especially Dr. Haight. I've just swallowed the fact that if I do receive an acceptance, I will have to cough up the money and just forget about it if I change my mind later. I understand their need to confirm seats, I think it draws the most committed students to their school. Anyway, just thought I'd share.
