Hey,

I'm having trouble understanding the exokanation for one of the question on TPR FL #2 PS Section Question #3.

The question asks:

Which one of the following statements is true concerning the vaporization of the liquids phosphorous oxychloride and bromine? And it fives some Delta G values. The correct answer is "POCl3 undergoes the greater increase in free energy."
and in the explanation it says "Both liquids experience an increase in free energy upon vaporization, eliminating choices B and D. The answer is A since

THE PART I DONT GET:

Delta G(vapor) = Delta G(fwd of gas) - Delta G(fwd of liquid)

and the answer is derived from there. Were did this equation come from? I've never seen it before. Thank you in advance for anyone who can help!
