Hi guys
I'm taking TPR 10 (ish) week course and so far it has been great.. really good instructors, lots of helpful material. I took 2 AAMC tests they provided online and that went fine. But today I tried to take their diagnostic and it has been HORRIBLE. There's really no other word to describe it. What happened was:

I have been using Firefox with the IE addin (because I hate IE) to take their tests, and it's been fine till now. Today i got to the library, all psyched up to get mauled by the test, and there's no "next" button. So I sighed, called them, and they told me to use IE. So I did the next button appeared, and I began the test. Then the browser started crashing every couple minutes, which I put up with until the verbal section. At this point not only would the browser crash, but I couldn't highlight AND the browser would crash when I tried to highlight. SO I called them again. They told me the highlight function was broken and there was no way to fix it. I thought, great, since it's really important for the verbal part to be able to highlight. But I plugged through the verbal section anyway, and then, to my dismay, when I started the essay.... the box is only 2 lines. Literally I can only see 2 lines of my typing. The box shrinks. I don't get it.

So, sorry for the rant, but I wanted to know if anyone who has taken TPR has had these problems, what they did to fix it, and if there are any suggestions, because this software is really REALLY frustrating. :annoyed: Thanks!

i'm taking the liveonline class, and I've also been experiencing problems regarding the online student center and my browsers.

I was running firefox 5 (the new one I think) but none of my resources were accessable, even though some of them were just downloadable pdfs. It said it wasn't supported, so I used IE. That wasn't supported either, because it was the new version and I really didn't feel like it back considering how sluggish old IE versions are. So I tried firefox 3.5 and 3.0, but no go.

Was able to get stuff going with firefox 2.0.0.20, maybe that'll help you

I kinda surprised more people aren't having issues, but maybe its just my computer

I've been having problems with 2 computers, but that's not saying much since they run the same exact programs and were fixed up by the same person.
When I called them, I told them my IE wasn't compatible, they told me to click on a little icon on the right side that looks like a torn piece of paper. It's supposed to help with back-compatibility.

I'm going to ask the other people in my class if they have issues too, and if they do I'm going to try to talk to somebody. I think it's kind of ridiculous because the course is expensive and the MCAT has been online for what... 5 years? TPR has been around longer than that, and it's not like the Internet is brand new either lol... these things should be running relatively smoothly IMO

Hi,

I took the TPR exam last year and I can't find my homework schedule relating to the books and I wanted to know can someone please post the associated passages with its corresponding chapter.

Thanks 😀

Which books? the whole homework schedule? i can scan it and send it to you, that'd probably be easier.

Yes, please the whole homework schedule 🙂

That will be greatly appreciated.
I have the Science Workbook, VR, PS, BS, and the Verbal Workbook.

I also have the ICC book as well 🙂. Didn't we also have a schedule for the ICC too right.

No, we didn't. The instructors have that schedule, but the homework schedule says do any ICC passages not done in class after the course is over. PM me your email and I'll scan it as soon as I'm done with this evil, evil test lol.

Ha, I am sure you will do great in this class. I dreaded taking the PR course because it was soooo much work 🙁. I didn't take my MCAT after the course ended because I didn't do any work, which is key to passing the MCAT. So here I am in Korea doing Fulbright and having to study for my MCAT once again but this time I am dedicated 🙂

the class seems to be pretty good, but the website is in desperate need of updating..

Lol, I'm dedicated, but I seem to be in this rut where I always get 25s on practice exams, and I always do terrrrrrible on PS. I've been doing all the work but I haven't seen a score increase as of yet.

I'm taking TPR class at the moment but I've fallen behind A LOT and the test day is in a month...should I just cancel it?

I've been having problems with IE crashing every other minute since two weeks ago. It's only today that I realized that this keeps happening after I highlight something 🙄

What do you mean by A LOT? BEcause the key in doing good on the MCAT is to practice passages. You have to think like the test-takers. I canceled my test several times. Not only was I behind but I was also working at Merck and that was a lot of work as well.

I hate PS lol well the physics portion, not the chemistry part. I was a chem major in undergrad 🙂. Did you take the AAMC 3 exam to see where exactly do you stand? TPR exams are wickedly hard and when I was taking hte course most of my classmates were scoring 25 to 27 on the exams. One got a 32 on her MCAT though 🙂.

Keep practicing and switch up the exams. Try to include TBR so you can get a different view on exam questions. Different companies have different ways in asking MCAT questions. Also take your AAMC exams near the end and if you do take an AAMC exam during your content review, I would take only one and that's AAMC 3 (since that is considered to be the easiest). AAMC 11 take a week before your mCAT exam or a few days before 🙂

dermocrat, I sent you the schedule, hope you got it.
I just hate the math! for some reason it always messes me up, and logs are beyond me... gah lol.
Thanks for the advice. I'm following the TRP schedule except I did AAMC 11 2 weeks ago.. oops. I did AAMC10 the first weekend and found it fine except for the PS. The test I just finished was TPR1, which was fine except the PS, which was super hard. All of it. Btw, any advice for when they give you a random formula and then expect you to deduce things? I seem to always miss the point and feel completely lost... not sure if it's because I freak out a little bit (i'm sure that's part of my problem) but I just seem unable to connect the concepts. If I don't have any background information on the topic then I have a hard time getting it.

I'm supposed to take the MCAT on the 8th of sept, and if I have to change the date to January I will, but I'd really like to take it in September. But a better score is worth 3 months of delay, and after I finish TPR stuff I have EK and Berkley Review and another TPR book.

It took me a few times to realize it but I have an extremely stable and reliable computer, there's no way it's farting out on me. And IE, though I don't like it, is the industry standard and is also stable.... which leaves the website. And the guy confirmed it on the phone, lol.

Thanks so much as yes I got it. Yay based on the MCAT forum AAMC 11 is more predictable to the REAL MCAT exam that you will be taking in September. Actually it's AAMC 10 and 11 which a lot of SDNers said it's the hardest and the closet to the real MCAT. Yes, when it came to formulas I tried to know any relationships that I thought was useful especially in physics, lol. I am actually going to use TBR Chem, Physics and Orgo books for my content review because they give a more of a tricks section, lol. Log tricks is also there because you don't want to waste anytime figuring easy calculations that are there, for example like stoichiometry lol. Hmmm if you don't take it in September and you plan to take it in Jan that's an additional 4 months of studying. It could be a good or a bad thing depending on how you are going to use that 4 months of studying. Are you planning on doing more practice problems and tests or are you still doing content review. Are you developing a keen understanding on every topic? I feel like the more practice passages and exams that you do the better of doing well on the mCAT but of course you have to know thyself 🙂.

Well, the course is over in 3 weeks and I haven't done any questions nor finished all the content review....so that's a lot. I'm so tempted to just cancel it but I'm entering my senior year in fall so I'm kinda confused at the moment.

Yeah you're way behind and you're trying to apply this year for next year right? Are you scoring where you would like to be on the actual MCAT, if not, don't take it. I rather to have a bad score on practice than to have a bad score on the real exam. You can't erase a bad score on the real MCAT but you can on the practice exam by practicing more. Based on previous MCAT date threads on SDN it seems like the MCAT is get rather difficult and is coming on the left field for a lot of people. You have to practice and take it more seriously, if not, don't take it and cancel your exam. Do you want to take a year off, if so, what would you like to do on your year off? I am doing the Fulbright Fellowship the ETA program for my year off. I am taking my MCAT probably overseas but I am takin it in Jan.

Know thyself and capabilities. The MCAT is not like the SAT when it comes to preparation.

Yeah I had my share of problems with TPR's online student center. It was especially sucky because I'm using a Mac and Safari is not compatible at all, so I had to download Firefox from 2004 (Firefox 2.0) but the site kept crashing so I kept deleting the Firefox and reinstalling it in hopes that something might be fixed with a reinstall but nope. I ended up calling the technical support and apparently this was a common issue because the newer Adobe Flash is not compatible with that old Firefox so after I deleted Flash and reinstalled an older version, it's been fine for me since *knock on wood*. I hope you guys got your problems with the website fixed -- it seemed like the technical support was on top of things :luck:

The thing that's really, really dragging me down is PS. If I can get a good score on that then I'm probably golden for the other sections with a little practice. And currently I'm not through all the content in TPR course, and once I am I think I'll be better off. Once I'm done with the course if I'm not getting the scores I want, I'll postpone and go back through TPR stuff as well as try to nail the stuff I'm fuzzy on now... mostly formulas. I'm good with concepts and facts but formulas are difficult for me to remember.

If you are using a mac, your probably going to have trouble with TPR website software...just somthing ive noticed

The best way, and bug free to use it is to log on to a computer with windows, open IE and run it in compatability view. Then acess everything through that.... had no problems that way

YOU CAN DO IT!!! Practice makes perfect my child 🙂. I am sure you're going to BEAST this BEAST!

I wish you the best of luck and I am sure you're going to post in the 30+ thread 😀

this! As soon. I made sure I was in "compatability view" in my IE browser it has worked flawlessly for me.
