If you are accepted to a school on april 30th, off the waitlist, do the same rules apply as if you were accepted prior to april 30th? or does this count as a post april 30th waitlist acceptance(i.e you can have this acceptance and the one you chose on april 30th until they specify the CTE date/orientation day?)

There are no more rules coming from AAMC, just suggestions. . . Unless your acceptances stipulate rules.

This is quite frustrating and confusing. I thought it was required to use the tool. I'm holding out for a school I'm WL at, but I thought I was required at a minimum per AAMC to PTE to one of my acceptances by today. The only guidance I received from the school I PTE'd is that I "should" release any additional acceptances beyond that one, and that if I intend to enroll there, I "should" choose PTE. It doesn't say "it's ok/not ok to not select anything if you're waiting to hear from somewhere else" or "if you don't PTE, you will/will not lose your seat." Out of anxiety that I may end up with zero seats at the end of it all, I PTE'd, but perhaps I didn't have to.

You didn’t have to unless your school required it. It shouldn’t hurt you.

Will a school still offer an acceptance to a student on their waitlist if they see a PTE on them? That would be my best guess at the concern.

Yes.

How do you differentiate between someone who has chosen not to use it and someone who doesn’t have the option to use it because they don’t have an acceptance?
Curious about this as well. Any adcoms able to comment on this?
