Does interventional training frequently involve animals or is it done solely on patients? I know that surgery residents often practice on pigs or dogs for ATLS certification or when practicing various procedures. Thanks.

Usually on humans with graded responsibility... However animal testing is very common in the development/testing phase of interventional devices.
