Transcripts, Letters of Recommondation, and secondary's

So I sent my transcripts to AMCAS, TMDSAS and AACOMAS about 2 weeks ago. AMCAS and TMDSAS both got my transcripts, but AACOMAS states that they have not recieved them. I called them and they were unhelpful. They told me that my transcripts probably got lost. Now one transcript being lost is understandable, but not 3, right? Anyways, AACOMAS send that I should sent them again.

Now I will resend them on Monday, but I am kind of depressed right now. What is to say that this will not happen again? Also, how long did it take for AACOMAS to put your transcripts in there system after you sent them? They told me that it takes three weeks, but is that true?

Also, I am just waiting on the transcripts to be verified as recieved and for AACOMAS to verify my whole application. My questions is, what should I do about secondaries? Should I call the schools and request them or do I have to wait for them to send it to me?\

Also, for my Letters of Recommondations, how do I do that? My advisor has all my letters, but do I tell them to submit them to interfolio or what? For allopathic school, they request a packet whereas in osteopathic school, they want letters. Do I need to send individual letters or should I submit a packet? Also, would it be better to submit the letters by mail or interfolio?

1 of my transcript got sent on June 2, they received it June 8 but didn't post it online til June 18. My other transcript was sent June 16th and I haven't heard anything from them. I guess it all depends on ur timeline when u sent it. Unfortunately, if they lost ur transcripts, u should send them the second time to make sure.

Some schools have secondary questions posted on their website, you should go to each,find out n start on them if u want to or go to "school specific discussion threads" for more info. I find them very helpful.

Your undergrad school/career center doesn't have the letter of recommendation service? If not then you should tell ur adviser to send them to interfolio. it's easier for u and for schools that way.

It does take quite a while (a few weeks) for AACOMAS to update your application with your transcripts. You'll need to be patient with them.

Do not request secondaries from the schools; they will either send them to you or notify you of how you can get them.

As for LORs, you can send a pre-med committee packet to DO schools as well. Most of them accept Interfolio (if your school does not have their own service), but certain schools will require you to mail them.

This is a matter of days, and in the long run doesn't mean much. There's no way to tell whether or not they begin verification right after they receive the transcripts. My assumption is that they get the transcripts, make a note of it, file it away, let you know they received them, then begin your verification when your turn comes. Understand that it does not take 4-6 weeks to actually verify your application, but simply because there are so many applications (and they are understaffed), it takes them weeks to get to yours.

AACOMAS will update your application with the date that they received the transcripts...but much later.

There's no way you can make sure your transcripts won't get lost (or if the first batch even got lost) unless you somehow get a tracking number on your transcripts through the mail.

ONLY when the schools ask you to send them ur LORs, which would be in the secondary applications.

What if you do send them prior to the secondary applications? Will they be lost or discarded? I haven't yet but my advisor said you should send them when your primary is complete or being verified. Is he wrong?

As is the case quite often, your pre-med advisor is indeed wrong. And yes, it is possible that they may displace your LORs if they do not have a file on you yet, for instance. They will ask you for your LORs through secondaries.

Since you're already planning on using interfolio for your LORS I would have your schools send the transcripts directly to interfolio. Then you have an electronic receipt stating when they were sent, and interfolio guarantees they will be there by the next business day. Interfolio is great about following up on delivery if there is a problem. That way your schools don't have to keep sending them out and you don't have to keep paying $5 a transcript or whatever it is. Schools are much slower to send them out than interfolio is to forward them on.
