Hi, It it possible to transfer from a online MPH program to on-campus program of the same or different institution by paying the difference in tuition? What will be the drawbacks of doing this?

Anyone ever transferred from online to on-campus program?

I cannot speak to personal experience, as I am currently applying. However, I had a potential similar situation for Johns Hopkins. I considered starting the internet-based/part-time program during the summer and then switching to full-time/on-campus status in the fall. (Their program stars in early summer, and my current fellowship does not end until late summer.)

I had a good correspondence with the admissions folks there. They stated that this was a non-issue, and even clarified that it would still be possible to complete the 1-year program even if I started as a part-time/online student (provided I took the extra classes that I otherwise could not take early on).

I am not sure what you are alluding to with regards to the tuition piece. I mean, as long as the schools gets their money 😀 switching should not be an issue (in those terms). If you can make a strong case for why the switch is appropriate for you at this time, then it should not be an issue (everything else being equal - GRE, GPA, competitiveness, rec letters, etc.). Good luck! 🙂

Thanks porkbunsrule. This helps.

I read in some other threads that many online programs do not require GRE. Is that true or online programs have the same pre-requisites as on-campus exams?

I cannot speak to that, quite honestly. However, I would imagine that that varies for each program. Do you have specific concerns about the GREs?

How was this program...worth your time/money?

If this question is for me...I don't know 😀 I am applying to it, but it does interest me a great deal. It is the first of its kind, and it's a rare training. The London School in general is high quality - and cheaper, tuition-wise. (Of course, the cost of living in London is a different matter.)

Yes Porkbunsrule,
The last I attended math classes was in 10th grade. I am a biology student. That being said, I am a medical student (from foreign country) and have taken usmle's so have attended epidemiology and biostats classes, and have been tested on that. That is why some prog, some good prog like john hopkins, university of Berkely waive GRE for ECFMG students, but these prog do not have spring session. . I don't want to waste time when I could use all these months in getting my degree. Trying hard to get into. So yea.. trying to start online degree if they accept without GRE and later maybe can take gre and shift to on-campus by fall. I am just thinking out aloud right now.. don't know if this is ever possible.

Anyone.. any possiblility that you can convince these prog? Are they that strict about GRE.
