If I take a pre req course at a Community College and have that transferred to my university, will that be looked at by adcoms as me taking a CC course or as me taking a course at my university?

You have to submit all transcripts from all schools attended. Thus, dschools would know everywhere you went to school.

Okay. I don't want to make it seem like I'm trying to hide the fact that I would take a course at a CC, but rather just wanted to know how they would look at a course taken at a CC as opposed to a course taken at a CC and transferred to a university.

It doesn't matter at all if your university accepts the credits or what they transfer as, in AADSAS you will enter the course with its CC name saying you took it at the CC.

Exactly. Just because the CC course transfers to the university, doesn't negate the fact that you still took it at a CC.

Don't stress out about it too much. I have known many applicants who have gotten in with CC credits. There is only about 5-6 schools that don't accept them. But you can still apply to the other 50.

Out of curiosity what are those 5-6 schools? I just want to be able to schedule o chem over the summer so I can get done with my pre reqs in a timely manner.

From memory Tufts and UCSF, though both are ok with you having CC credits as long as they aren't in the prereq courses. Do you have a 4-year state school near by where you could take ochem over the summer?

I do, however it would cost a whole lot more if I took it there over the summer because I wouldn't get financial aid. It would be cheaper if I took it at a CC.

If it was a non-sci prereq, it would probably be OK. For example, I'm taking sociology at a local CC to fulfill UMich's soc prereq.

But since you're talking about orgo, which is a science-specific course and is often seen as a "weed-out" course, I would bite the bullet and take it at a 4-year university, even though it will cost more. You DO still qualify for financial aid over the summer, it just depends on whether or not you took out your max eligible funds over the fall and spring or if you were more conservative and only took what you needed.
