Hey guys,

I am currently attending an allopathic medical school here in Texas. I am wanting to transfer to TCOM and was wondering if anyone had any information as to whether if this is even possible.

Thanks!

Michael

You may get some courses to transfer, but will need to start over due to the OTM you missed, albeit with a decreased course load. Contact the schools for definitive answers.

Transferring from US MD to US DO ... your story would make some pre-med heads explode in 'ctrl alt delete/does not compute' confusion.

Why do you want to switch? It would be such a pain to have to catch up on all that OMM you missed the first year. Yikes.

Here's where they address this question. Looks like the answer is NO, but it couldn't hurt to contact them (info at the bottom of the page).

Hmmm why does your status say you're a Pre-med?

I think you can at DMU, you just have to finish the omm requirement before you graduate...but im just going to throw this out

:troll:

Why transfer? Just finish up at a MD school and while in residency get certified in OMT, contact the AMA about it. This way you won't have to worry about repeating classes, falling behind, moving etc.

Totally agree. Unless you have a major family situation and really really really really really need to switch so you can take care of your personal issues, it seems like it would be an enormous hassle.

If you want to be in DFW, just go to Southwestern. It will be much easier to slide over there, than to TCOM.

Hey Michael, yes it can be done. I knew a girl from the class of 2007 who transferred to TCOM from an allopathic school in Chicago after she completed her MSI year in Chicago. She did have to start over again as an OMSI, though. You will have to do this as well if you do decide to apply and get accepted at TCOM.

PM me if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them or direct you to someone who could do a better job of it than me.
