Look at the more competitive surgical / sub surgical stuff. ENT , URO, NSG etc.

That's very interesting. I've never looked at those tables, thank you for posting it. Something to consider though is that the responses to that question are quite subjective whereas the match rate is objective. In that survey they are basically asking the PD's about their opinion on interviewing or ranking IMGs, which may serve as a surrogate marker but there could also be discrepancies. For example if you look at Gen Surg you will see that PDs seem to slightly favor IMGs over DOs based on their responses. But if you look at the match rates you see that DOs have a match rate of 51% while US-IMGs have a match rate of 32%.

Thanks for reducing a very distressful issue I am currently facing to nothing more than a joke. I've been lurking on this forum for a while and you seem to comment quite frequently. According to urban dictionary, the definition of trolling is “Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing one or more cynical or sarcastic remarks on an innocent by-stander, because it's the internet and, hey, you can.”........Based on most of what you seem to spew out on this forum, I would say this summarizes you pretty accurately. Why else would someone who is not even a medical student or practicing physician (according to your profile) write over 40000 comments over a 6 year span to offer "advise" that is almost always biased and condescending?

Placing on Ignore. You'll feel some slight pressure between the eyes.

According to urban dictionary,

Urban Dictionary

A place formerly used to find out about slang, and now a place that teens with no life use as a burn book to whine about celebrities, their friends, etc., let out their sexual frustrations, show off their racist/sexist/homophobic/anti-(insert religion here) opinions, troll, and babble about things they know nothing about.

Read his answers and you tell me.

I have read his responses, and literally just said I don't think he is a troll. I don't see how saying something along the lines of "see for yourself" is a legitimate defense of your opinion.

Ah, I suppose you don't have a sound argument against OP. Here's a definition of trolling from Google:

"To make a deliberately offensive or provocative online post with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them."

How exactly has OP done this? He seems to be concerned about his future and is asking legitimate questions.

Your condescension and negativity is quite unhelpful. I would expect better from someone who works with students regularly.

Now that everyone's opinion has been thoroughly aired, it seems that this would be a good time to close this thread. I am open to the possibility that a substantive comment is yet to be made. If anyone can do that, this would be the appropriate moment.

I really think this is the best possible response

I'll answer this exactly as if you are one of my own students (which the odds are about 1/30)

Very sorry to hear this
I am currently an osteopathic medical student who is about to complete my second and final preclinical year. However, I am not at all happy at my current school.

Good choice given the circumstances
A couple of years ago, I applied to MD and DO (mostly MD) schools and was admitted to three osteopathic schools but didn't even get a single allopathic interview. Not wanting to take the time to improve my application given my mediocre results and the uncertainty of how subsequent cycles would go, I decided to take one of my DO acceptances against the advice of my family members and peers.

You knew what you getting into. IF your parents are paying for your tuition, that's a small price to pay for being a doctor. You DO want to be a doctor, don't you?
Not only have I discovered that I genuinely dislike osteopathic medicine and its philosophy, but everyday I feel inferior to my MD counterparts. In addition, I am constantly berated by my parents for choosing this route (my father of whom is an MD).

Ahh, not my school.
On top of this, my school is poorly administered

Rotations will start soon. You may very well have a chance to get out of said city, if not state,. And there's only two more years to go. Rotations will keep you busy.
and I am stuck living in a state/city that I despise. I am currently near the top of my class and, assuming that I pass the COMLEX in a few weeks (and score well) in addition to the USMLE,

NOT going to happen
I was wondering if it would be at all possible for me to try to transfer into an MD program.

If you wish to end your clinical career, it will be much faster and cheaper simply to punch your Dean in the nose.
While I know that traditional US-MD programs are unlikely to have any spaces nor even consider DO transfers, would it be possible for me to transfer into a Caribbean MD program?

Except your judgment will be rightly called into question.
Since much of the risk of going to a Caribbean school (at least according to this forum) seems to stem from not surviving attrition in preclinical years, this doesn't seem seem to be such a risky proposition to me.

Hmmmm...Now I'm sensing a troll. But it's a teaching moment anyway. If the MD was that coveted to you, you would have done the work to fix your app and get into an MD school. If you're not trolling, you made your bed, now lie in it.
I know my matching prospects may be a bit lower graduating from one of these offshore schools, but it would at least get me the coveted MD degree which is of great importance to me. If this path is possible, are there any other downsides to it?

Nothing much to be gained from the thread since it devolved to troll hunting

This is guy is well known among medical students (I've heard his name mentioned many times over the last few years). I just took a look at his posting history. He literally comments on just about every single thread on this subforum (particularly regarding med school admissions) Much of what he says is also very demeaning and patronizing. Nonetheless, he seems to have gained support from insecure premeds who don't know any better than to see through his transparency. My bet is that this guy isn't even a professor (being that he seems to spend every hour of the day this forum) and if he is, he only comments to extend whatever power trip he is currently on. But I guess his input has been helpful anyway. I'll keep this guy in mind if I get question on the USMLE or COMLEX about narcissistic personality disorder in a few weeks.

Even if it is a troll, and I just don't see a huge reason to be sure of that, why not just discuss the scenario for the benefit of posterity? Trying to call people out and fighting over whether or not someone is a troll is so much more detrimental than the initial question.

I suspect you are one of the previously banned users who harassed Goro in the past. Well later!

Much of the discussion in this thread is useless and unproductive. Goro's response I quoted twice is by far the best and should be followed.

The discussion becomes unproductive as soon as people start screaming troll. It happens on like every even slightly controversial thread on preallo. Why can't people either respond seriously to the discussion in progress or ignore the thread.
I'm obviously out of patience today 😛

If you look at things objectively, you'll get a far better education/ clinical exposure at a DO school (or at least most of them) than you could hope to from an expensive diploma mill in the Caribbean. I'd suggest you ask yourself the question, regardless of the two letters after your name, which route will best prepare you to become a competent physician.

Yeah troll hunting kills discussion. Report the thread and let the mods take care of it.

I honestly stopped reading past initial Goro and gonnif posts since they answered the question well
