Hi All,

I'm not sure that this is the proper forum, but so far it seems the closest to my situation. I'm a PGY I that has realized that they picked the wrong specialty. I'm still choosing between what two specialties I want to pursue, so I won't be able to make this year's residency app cycle. The problem is I need to figure out what I'm going to to with my interim year.

I've had some advice already stating I should try and find a paid research position within the specialty I want to pursue. Is this my only option? I'd like to stay as a clinician but I do have to do something clinical with this year in between. Does anyone have any idea where I might start looking?

Sincerely confused and trying to figure out how I'm going to make it through the next year, but I know I can't stay where I am.

Thanks!

Mods, if this post is mis-placed, please place it appropriately. I'm desperately looking for responses.

Most people on this forum are more familiar with academic options in public health more than anything clinical. I'm a researcher, so unfortunately, I don't really have any useful input. Not sure if anyone else has any experience in this avenue?
