Here are some questions regarding applying for a Transitional/Prelim Year:

1. Do you recommend altering the personal statement for RadOnc to include a sentence or two explaining why I'm interested in applying for a transitional Year (rather than prelim year) - so that it sounds more directed to a transitional year program rather than a RadOnc program? Obviously, they're aware that I'm applying for a RadOnc position and have to therefore apply for a PGY1 transitional/prelim spot - but was wondering if a "RadOnc Residency Personal Statement" should be altered a bit to be more "personal" for a transitional year?

2. Should I use different/other letters of recommendations than I am submitting to ERAS for the RadOnc residency programs? i.e. include an int med, surgery, etc., letters and less RadOnc and Research letters?

Thanks again.

As above:
1) Even consider a total rewrite (very short PS) to indicate you interest in a particular type of prelim/transitional year. For example, I was lookging for an intense medicine prelim year and indicated this in a separate PS.

2) Include your best radonc letter and then your med/surg ones.
