How in depth do we have to know the details for translation initiation (eukaryotes and prokaryotes) for the MCAT? For example, are we expected to know exactly how all the transcription factors and ribosomal subunits assemble in order, or would the actual mechanism of translation itself be more useful to focus on?

Thanks!

mechanism itself, what ribosomes are, EPA sites, translation costs energy (tRNA charging, chain elongation, etc), peptidyl transferase, start/stop codons, termination factor, wobble hypothesis, reading a codon chart, so just the basics.

ribosomal subunit sizes for prokaryote and eukaryote if you want to get nitty gritty.

Ah that's a relief to hear. Thank you!
