traveling to ross

I was wondering if someone out there could possibly help me answer this question before my overbearing parents drive me insane. 😀

In the admissions packet that they sent me from Ross, they suggested I go to the Austin Travel Agency in order to book my flight. I called them and the quote I got was for approximately $1100.00 + $52 to change the fare later on (since I'm planning to only return next december and they don't have access to those dates yet). That is quite a pretty chunk of dinero, if you ask me.

My question is, for those students who are already at Ross, how much did you guys pay to get to/from Ross? Am I looking at this insane price every time I want to travel or is there a way to get cheaper flights? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, I'm planning to travel on the 27th of December. Your opinion: too early? Too late? Just right? (This is for the Spring semester)

I can't speak for Ross students, but as an SGU student I would advise running the other direction as fast as you can from the school's recommended travel agent. With a little legwork (or internet finger work) you can do a MUCH better job than they can. And you'll return your phone calls and emails to yourself.

I'd shop around if I were you.

I happen to be in the same boat. I'm heading down to Ross around the same time. The consensus seems to be that Austin sucks. I spoke to a lady named J-O-A-N-E I ended up hanging up on her after two minutes.

Find the flight yourself, you'll save a lot of dinero. If you find a good one can you PM me? I'll do the same. I'm going to start searching tomorrow.
