I was wondering when the best time to travel this summer would be in order to get all of my applications in on time. I was thinking of spending 3-4 weeks in Europe from the start of July but I haven't been able to find much information on when secondaries come out or when they are due for this year. I was thinking of submitting my primaries before leaving and taking care of all the secondaries upon my return in late July. Would this work out or should I travel during some other period of time?

Thanks!

Why not just send out your application before you go on your trip, and during the night before you go to bed or in your down time work on your secondaries?

A quick turn around time for the secondaries is recommended, so you might be drowning in secondaries on your return. A couple options:
1) you pre write the secondaries (my recommended option)
2) You take the trip another time
3) You do current plan, which means potentially applying a little late, but not the end of the world. I would say August would probably be your best bet.

You should be ready to submit your app on June 1st, go to Europe for the first 3-4 weeks of June, then by the time you'll be back, you can submit secondaries and still be very early.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like leaving in early June would be the best option. The only problem I have with that is that I am TA'ing an online class until July 1. Might just have to do that for a few hours a week while abroad. On average when would you say secondaries come out and when would they be due for early decision?

After you submit your primary, it takes a few weeks to process them and send them out to schools. Once the schools receive your app, they take a week or more to screen before sending secondary applications. It is reccommended you submit secondaries within 2-4 weeks of receiving it. So you could be fine. However, I recommend you go to this year's school threads and pre-write your secondaries. Many will not change from year to year. This way you can submit them as soon as you come back.
