Trevor Noah sues HSS

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Id love to see an independent medical advisory board get to review these cases before they can make it to a judge. Hate that I could get sued for doing nothing wrong
Just exchange the secret liberal handshake so they know to Stand Down

in a number of states, including indiana and I think texas, that's exactly what happens. a lawsuit goes before I think a 3 physician panel of the specialty in question. if they deem the physician has committed malpractice then it proceeds. otherwise gets tossed.
Texas. Texas.

Can figure out a great idea like this.....

Cant figure out their power grid.

Anger and revenge. Studies show that a doctor who apologizes for a mistake either doesn’t get sued or settles for less money than a doctor who refuses to acknowledge the patient’s concern. It’s the only way a patient has to “get even” when they’re mad. It’s for Justice.
This is true. My group had a patient get a nasty burn during RF recently (not my procedure, old guy doing things weird) but when NP brought her to my attention I stopped what I was doing and sat and talked with the patient. Apologized several times and tried to figure out what went wrong with her. The patient thanked me several times for apologizing and mentioned how rare that was. She's not going to sue.

I got pretty burned during a procedure many years ago too. I was pissed!! The doctor in question told me how he had never burned anyone before and that he was sorry. He also used all his technology and cosmetic machines to essentially make the pigment from the burn go away over several months. I didn't sue.
When doctors are arrogant, just as when a business or company is arrogant or nasty, that's when lawsuits arise. I think most reasonable people realize that things happen and are not ill intentioned so if one shows a little humbleness goes a long way.

it does.

when a doc is negligent, then lawsuits are reasonable. it is not reasonable to sue when there is an act of god and a bad outcome occurs (like an infection or zebra anatomy, etc). more importantly, it is not reasonable to sue when a doc did nothing wrong but the patient THINKS they did. this is what i can't get over. i shouldnt have to beg my patients not to sue and i shouldnt have to apologize for something i didnt do wrong.

In spite of studying for and passing a Texas Medical Jurisprudence test to get my license, I was not aware of this. I did, however answer 5 questions about making sure that parents are made aware if a minor is seeking an abortion. 🤔

Well duh. Dr Death got shut down immediately from the Texas medical board. Seems like they know what they’re doing. Oh wait

That’s a new one! I didn’t have to know that 7 years ago.

President of TMB said at our pain conference that they cannot act without a formal complaint filed, and that the original complainers never did that step for Dr. Death…

Cuz they were dead?

How about board complaints? The fact that they ask you to formally respond to each and every one?
