is anyone else having trouble adding prereq classes? since i am not a regular student at the jc, i am not given priority in registration.. and i'm trying to add anatomy. but i tried to add the class today but it is SO packed with no chance to even add it. i even tried to take the class at another jc, but its also packed. and i need to finish anatomy by this spring!

yikes! that's pretty bad. I ran into the same problem last semester so what I did was show up everytime the class met and kept on trying to add. I told the prof my situation and he was nice enough to finally add me after the second week. good luck!

I experienced similar issues. The great thing about bio classes (at least at the JC I took some prereqs at) are that people tend to drop the class after a week or two. If you can, just keep going to class and wait for a spot to open up. I even asked my professor if she would be able to add me after the Add deadline if a spot opened up and she said yes. My advice would be to talk to the professor and see if you can get to the top of the waitlist. Good luck!

In all the community colleges with a nursing program that I've come across the pre-nursing students get priority when it comes to AP, biology, micro, etc. classes because they have to finish them first before they can even be considered for acceptance to the nursing program. Some even have separate classes set up for the pre-nursing students to fill up first before they will allow other students. It also tends to speed up paperwork such as registering and transferring because you wind up on the top of most administrative piles.

Hint...you might want to change your major to pre-nursing.

I ran into the same situation. What i did was take another class (economics) which did not have at waitlist. In doing so, i had an earlier registration date the following semester and was able to take the anatomy class i needed.

I lost my seniority after moving from CC to 4yr, but after taking only one course at CC again I was right back on top of the list. As far as AP goes, the drop rate was pretty good after the first test, the problem will be the last date to add is usually before then. I'd say talk it over with the prof and see if they have any alternate arrangements that can be made. In my class it was the lab sizes that restricted the instructors ability to add. You could see if they'll let you into lecture and try to pick up a different lab section until someone drops out of your desired lab. If there's no room in lecture or lab, that could be an issue that's unfortunately unresolvable.
