I am not a nurse, nor am I a nursing student, but this still comes off quite brash to me. I don't think I've ever seen anything this offensive and quite frankly, unprofessional, in the entirety of my experience on SDN. Nursing students definately get more clinical experience in the early stages of their education (compared to say an M1/M2, depending what school you are) and I guarantee you that what you are describing, is how you look to residents and attendings during clerkships. Most of the nursing students I know appear more calculating and confident than what you describe, and conversely, a shocking number of medical students I know (even late 2nd year students) carry themselves much in a way you are describing nursing students.
Do you know why we have phototherapy for jaundiced newborns? A physician that was smart enough to consider what the nursing staff in his unit had noticed about the recovery of newborns placed near the windows of the nursery vs. away from the sunlight. Now our babies are fleshy and pink like they are supposed to be!
Please, as you move upward and onward in your medical career, do not look down upon your coworkers simply on the basis of their choosing a different professional path from yours.
