Was taking call in the CVICU the other day. Was rotating with an MGH critical care trained anesthesia staff. Our CVICU is a 67 bed ICU with postop Cardio-Thoracic patients open model unit. During the day we did multiple TTE's on patients to complement our diagnosis. The most popular view we used was looking at the IVC diameter to help us diagnose hypovolemia. We also looked at the four chamber view alot before and after inotropes. How many of you guys use TTE in your practice. Something about encroaching on the cardiologist made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
