Has anyone successfully scheduled their interview yet? I called 3 times today and got only a voicemail.

Leave a message with the reason for your call and ask for a call back? Seems like there is very few Touro-Ca interviews that have gone out thus far anyway.

I know that the first round of interviews have yet to go down, but since I'm already in and soon enough next years class will take shape I took the liberty of starting a facebook page.

Just search for: Touro-COM-CA Class of 2015

Does anyone know the OOS percentage for the entering class?

Search the exact string he suggested, I just tried it and it went directly to the group.

The string is "Touro-COM-CA Class of 2015". Good luck!

Nice - I'm no expert with Facebook, perhaps there was a better way to set it up. Anyway, doesn't if feel good to know its all over? I'm still getting supplemental application requests and some interview invites. Just sitting back and enjoying it all is a somewhat unexpected surprise.

Hi Happy DO, when did you submit the secondary application? Did they send you an email for interview invite?

Thanks and good luck for your interview
Sweet... interview invite

woohoo interview invite! congrats to those with interviews, hope you all do well!

My first interview invite! This is so exciting, especially since they haven't even received my new MCAT score yet (will be released in 4 days, yikes!).

Received "Application complete" postcard: 7/14
Received email interview invite: 9/2
Interview scheduled for: 10/5

Who else is with me?!

Congrats. I was complete around the same time. Really hoping for an interview here. Hopefully my new grades (once they are freaking processed by AACOMAS) will help me out.

Hey Dan, sorry for the noob question, but what do you need to do for AACOMAS to process newer grades? Do you just send in a transcript and they take care of it in (over)due time? Best of luck this cycle.

Yep. If you click on transcript requests you can select updated transcript. I mailed it and then sent them a message to support letting them know to expect the transcript and how I expect it to be filed as far as course classifications and retake status. Interfolio says it was received 2 days ago, AACOMAS says it takes up to 5 days to acknowledge they have it and 2 freaking weeks to process it. 😡 Because it must be SOOOOOO hard to change 1 freaking grade 🙄

This is great news hopefulCC! Congrats! I'm REALLY hoping I get an interview here since it is one of my top 3 choices. I just got an interview for touro- nevada which really has me excited. my stats are 3.94 gpa and 24 mcat, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

I wasn't complete until August 30th though (DO letter got lost somehow, so he emailed it to them Monday). So, I might have a week or so to hear back..

Good luck! It's ridiculous how long it takes to update 1 course/grade!

I don't think you have anything to worry about- a 3.94 GPA is AMAZING!! I'm very jealous...
It's one of my top 3 choices too (I'd love to stay in CA), but I'm worried about 3rd and 4th year. I read/hear about all these stories of students scrambling to set up their own rotations and having to constantly relocate. 👎

According to a third year I met they have a new doctor in charge of their clinical rotations who came with alot of connections to local hospitals. His strength was also organization. I'm interested to speak with her again towards the end of the year, or even if i have the opportunity to interview up there, to hear what her opinions on the rotations are. Sounds like she's gotten to stay in one area in norcal though

Thanks for the info/ update, DbDan!!
I had read through the SDN school reviews by current Touro-CA students
http://www.studentdoctor.net/schools/school/tucom-ca/survey/36
(click on clinical rotations tab)
and it made me paranoid, haha. Although survey population is n=5 (skewed, I know), the survey comments and brutal reviews in the Pros and Cons thread were pretty recent, and it had freaked me out...

Sorry Asianboy that it took me so long to respond....I received my complete postcard from them on 7-15 and the interview came via email.

If I submitted a primary app last cycle, but did not submit the secondary app because it was so late in the cycle, do I still put that I previously applied? I did apply in the sense that I sent my primary, but I was never officially complete.

Does anyone know if TUCOM offers early hands on opportunities with patients or do we have to wait till our clinical years?

Had same issue w/ a different school, and was told to put re applicant at that school. You could call if you want because if you aren't in the database you are a new applicant, but seeing as how you were screened and sent a secondary, you are probably in the database.

just got an interview invite yesterday..was going to call and schedule today..called and the office was close at 3pm and it will remain close until next monday!! anyone else in the same boat?

I'm on the same boat. I actually called them earlier than 3 pm however nobody was answering the phone and now I called and they said they will be closed until monday. I was wondering if they are talking about the Monday that just passed due to the holiday and they just forgot to modify their recording or it is next Monday.

For those people who scheduled an interview already, were there still availability for September interviews?

They are closed due to Rosh Hashanah. The school observes and sometimes closes for Jewish holidays.

i got invited on tuesday, i was able to call in and schedule and they said the earliest they had available was 10/11 so i went with that.

hey guys...i'm a little late with the secondary but does anyone know if tucom-ca has a limit to how many LORs we can send? much thanks!

I submitted 6 letters. Who knows if they even read all of them. Unless the school says otherwise, I can't imagine that it hurts to send in more than the required amount, provided you aren't being unreasonable.

Just received my Touro-Ca interview invite today! There are no words to explain how happy I feel right now! 😍

I finally feel like this story is going to have a happy ending. My goals are 10 yeas in the making and the cusp of my achievements is rapidly approaching.

I have an interview with Touro-Ca and Touro-NV

From what I understand, rotations isn't a problem if you're in they Bay area-Sacramento area. Most people get the sites they want. I havn't heard of anyone "constantly scrambling"...

I'm sure they read all the letters, I had to send in all my letters that i had in folder because that's how my school's letter service worked.

oh and is anyone interviewing on oct 4?

Hi everybody,

I'm a first year Tucacom DO/MPH student. I'm going to be a tour guide for you during your interview day. I'll do my best to answer your questions in this thread.

I've been in school for about 2 months and already my whole class got the opportunity to sign up and work in the Touro Student Health Clinic, which we open weekly to the disadvantaged in the area. We also have days set aside in the schedule for early clinical experiences, and we are currently learning to take and report SOAP notes.

So...yes, clinical experience starts from the very beginning. Professionalism is strongly emphasized, and that means living like a doctor at every moment and every place.

Just to be transparent, I'm also a 1st year and also a tour guide on interview days. One of our roles is to answer questions about the school and be a unbiased source of information (& opinions). We don't get paid to be tour guide, nor do we report to anyone and nor do we influence your admission process at all. We're here to help applicants out.

Like solo322, there's a lot opportunity for clinical exposure, the CMA/AMA, SOMA/UAAO and the school itself will give you ample opportunities for early clinical exposure. In fact, ECE part of the curriculum here at Touro.

Hey all,

I'm new to the thread, but only because I thought for sure I would get no love from TUCOM. But, surprisingly, I got an invitation to interview day before yesterday 😀! I'm super excited...it's one of my top choices, and definitely my top DO school.

I have been calling to schedule and their message says they are closed for Rosh Hashanah, which was over a few weeks ago. I left a message but haven't heard back. Any ideas? Call obsessively? Because that's what I'm doing.

Hey MNBred,

When I spoke to her two days ago, she said that the office will be closed T/F due to another Jewish Holiday. So maybe leave a message or call back Monday.

Thanks so much! Will do. Now I can stop hitting redial 🙂

Got my second interview invite today, from TUCOM CA!!!!!!!!!!! Super excited! But they do seem to have a problem picking up phone calls. I've been calling them all day today since I got the invitation, to secure a date. Left one voicemail, so I guess I'll try again tomorrow morning.

Congrats! I got an invite today too, maybe I'll see you there!! It took three calls, but somebody in the AO finally picked up and scheduled me for 11/15.

my roommate and i both got interview invites from here today and he said he called like five times and nobody answered...

Dr. Haight really is as nice as everyone says!

Good luck to everyone that will be interviewing next week. It was pretty relaxed for both our groups. We weren't asked any ethical questions. Really know what you wrote in your essays!

Hope I get accepted, I'd totally go here!

Congratulations to you as well! I finally got through to the admissions office this afternoon and was promptly scheduled for November 16th (the earliest available date as of 1:30pm C.T. today). Good luck to you on the 15th!

In case anyone has the same questions as I, I asked them regarding the interview format and whether I could present my research during the interview. They told me that the interview is panel format, open file, group interview. I would not be able to present my research during the interview, but they advised me to mail in the research manuscript so the interviewers may be aware of my work.

Ok, for those curious about the interview day....
0900-1200- Meet with Dean, Dr. Haight, MPH program director and financial aid rep and tour
1200-1300- Panel interview
The interview consists of 2 faculty members and one student rep. The questions are directed to each person in the 5 member group and are fairly specific to each person. The interviewers know your file very well so know your personal statement and secondary application. Overall the questions were nonconfrontational but it could be rough if you were uncomfortable talking in front of people you just met.
1330- shuttle back to the hotel

This is exactly how my interview progressed as well.

Our interviewers told us, as a group, that we were picked to be in that specific group for reasons, and that it wasn't random.

For instance, the two people I interviewed with both were non-traditional students (as I was) and had interests in liberal arts. I am a writer and one of my cohorts was a symphonic composer, or something like that.

Anyway, good luck to you all.
