I know Tufts has come up somewhat recently, but I was having trouble finding the exact thread. At any rate, the consensus on this board seems to be that the program is over-priced for what you actually get. I'm attracted to the school's reputation and linkage programs to BU and Tufts. Since I am applying directly from undergrad, they won't accept me until all my final transcripts are in, but apparently my chances are "very good" (at least according to the program rep I've been talking to). Does anybody know anything about this program besides that it is expensive? Is it any better than just staying at my undergrad and taking the courses here?

I have a friend that goes there. He says its quite painful. He also has class with the undergrads, people who just cant quite grasp why an older student would be in their class, so he tells me. But, he's sticking it out.

I was also considering Tufts vs. Harvard Ext. School last summer. I chose HES and don't regret it for a moment. 😍 There is so much collaboration between students, and the courses are at a convenient time (and price) if you want to work full time or part time.

Good luck! :luck:

I did my undergrad at Tufts and I was a science major there. I also considered Tufts briefly for a post-bacc but decided against it.

Everything that the two posters before me said is correct, so I won't bother repeating it. As a science major taking Chemistry, I did wonder to myself who all those "old" students were in the front row asking so many questions.

What I can also tell you is that Tufts (especially the premed advisor, Carol Baffi-Dugan (sp?)) takes the reputation of the post-bacc program very seriously. You don't stand a very good chance at getting in unless she thinks you can get into medical school.

I ended up doing my classwork at UMass Boston for about 1/4 the cost of Tufts and I loved it. I also got into Tufts Med, which goes to show you that you can get into some very good medical schools even if you do your post-bacc work at a "less than prestigious" institution.

As long as you do well in your post-bacc classes and do well on the MCAT (the MCAT being the most important), you'll do fine. With a great MCAT score, the Tufts name doesn't add much value, in my opinion. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. These posts seem to confirm the general consensus on this program...

It is 2007, nearing 2008. Does anyone have any input, comments, and/or opinions about Tufts Post Bac program? I am very interested in this program, but wonder if it will be a good fit, for instance, how challenging Tufts courses are [as I often read], is the program fee worth the value of the program/reputation?

Thanks.

I'm interested as well. Or at least if someone could give me the number of someone to actually talk to and not an voice mail. I've left messages for like the last 2 weeks with no call back! I want to know if they take the dat =)

Same questions here as well.

Anybody have any recent information regarding Tufts premed post-bac?

Trying to decide on/compare this program with others in the area (i.e. BU, Northeastern, Brandeis, HES, UVM etc.).

Anyone have any helpful information to add regarding any of these programs? Would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks
